Ramya x Bharat - Makeover Dedicated Post
Weddings in the early days were not an intimate affair. In Tamil and Telugu customs it can go up to 16 days. And to make sure that the Bride and Groom doesn't get tanned, the then used makeup consisted of henna, turmeric, sandalwood paste, and saffron.
Over time, the trend has changed from henna to cream-based makeup products that are easier to apply without smudging or running off during the ceremony.
Photography in South Indian weddings was introduced only in the 1900s. But makeup was there from the start.
There are a lot of outcries nowadays that makeup artists bring their own photographers, gimbals, or take their own reels, photos, and videos and not give enough time for the paid photographers to do their job.
Well, yes and no.
Unlike photography, makeup artists work profile had to be updated on a daily basis. They need their content almost immediately. Most makeup artists don't even have a proper Instagram page, no proper content, and this affects their brand value.
They rely heavily on us, wedding photographers for their brand content. And what do we do.
We have our own timeline to deliver photos n videos and we don't bother to send them to the MUAs. Sometimes we don't even give them due credit.
Why ?
That's because we would not have shot the content keeping them in mind. Even when we share the photos, sometimes they put their own filters on top of our edited photos but tag us there by spoiling our reputation. That's the fear.
To negate all this and keep a cordial relationship with the artists, all photographers should do is
DM us to know the answer... it's our secret recipe.
