POV: You’re a Freelance Photographer & it’s More Than Just Taking Photos
🧠 Client Communication
Before the shoot even starts, you're managing expectations, sending proposals, answering DMs, and sometimes… explaining why you don’t work for "exposure."
📅 Scheduling & Planning
You’re juggling multiple clients, scouting locations, figuring out light timings, and making sure no sessions overlap. A missed appointment = missed income.
🧰 Gear Management
Cleaning lenses, charging batteries, formatting SD cards, updating firmware, your gear won’t take care of itself, and any glitch can cost you a shoot.
📦 Props & Setup (esp. for kids/babies)
Working on home sessions, planning baby-safe props, creating themes that match the client’s vision, all this happens before the first click.
💻 Post-Processing
Editing isn’t just slapping on a preset. It's selecting, color grading, retouching, exporting, backing up all while staying true to your style.
🧾 Invoicing & Admin
Chasing payments, sending invoices, calculating taxes, tracking expenses, being creative also means being organized. (Struggling the most with this part currently)
📲 Marketing Yourself
You’re also a content creator: posting reels, replying to comments, updating your website, running ads, and constantly attracting the next client.
✨ Still Worth It?
Absolutely.
Because you’re not just taking photos, you’re building a brand, a business, and capturing memories people will cherish forever.
