Looking back at this moment from 2018 when my work was recognized in the Animal Portraits & Behaviour category.

Wildlife and conservation have always needed more voices, more eyes, and more stories, and being part of the Nature inFocus community that uses photography to spark awareness for the natural world has been deeply meaningful.

To have had my perspective shared alongside so many talented photographers was truly humbling.

With the 2026 contest launching today, I’m looking forward to seeing the new stories and moments that will be captured this year. If you’ve been thinking about sharing your work, I highly encourage you to join in.

Tibeten Sand Fox 🦊

Its square-shaped face is unique
Unlike most foxes with pointed faces, this fox has a boxy, almost rectangular head. This odd shape isn’t just for looks—it helps it scan the flat Tibetan plateau more effectively while hunting. Lives at extreme altitudes It survives in harsh environments of the Tibetan Plateau, often above 4,000 meters (13,000 ft). Few fox species can tolerate such low oxygen and freezing temperatures.

Best place to photograph this elusive fox is Sikkim || India

The Capped Langur is a forest-dwelling primate native to Bhutan, India and Myanmar.

Their name is inspired by the dark patch of fur that sits atop their head, resembling a cap. The dorsal side of the body ranges from golden orange to yellow in colour, giving way to a long brown or grey tail. Capped by a black face, ears and feet, their bodies weigh around 10-14kg and are 50-70cm tal

Mother & Cub’s Red Panda

The red panda is an elusive and mysterious mammal of the biodiverse Himalayan forests. They have also been called the “lesser panda”, and “red-cat-bear”— the red panda has many nicknames. We prefer “first panda” and “original panda” as western scientists described it 50 years before the giant panda, and gave pandas their name.
The red panda’s habitat consists mainly of temperate broadleaved forests with bamboo understories at altitudes ranging from 2400 to 3900 meters, mostly found in the Eastern Himalayas. They prefer areas with lots of tree cover, as they spend most of their times in the trees.
