Maqbara-e-Rukn ud Daula or Hussainia Musheer Jung Bahadur
At the foot of Moula Ali hill, lies Maqbare-e-Rukn ud Daula, one of the prime ministers of Nizams.
He constructed the Rukn ud Daula Lake in 1765, which was designed in the shape of the Urdu letter Bay (ب), the short form of Aab meaning “water.” The lake served as the royal drinking water supply, with water sealed in barrels and carried on bull carts to the Chowmahalla Palace for the Nizam’s family.
He also commissioned a mosque in Chawri Bazar of Old Delhi, a heritage structure still standing today.
Rukn ud daula trained Mah Laqa Chanda and provided her with the best teachers, her own library, and exposure to the vibrant culture of Hyderabad. She became proficient in horse riding, archery & other skills. With Rukn ud Daula’s household and patronage, Mah Laqa Bai received the exceptional education and cultural immersion that made her who she became.
