The cables of a stadium “spider camera” are so precisely computer-controlled that the system can stop a flying camera weighing over 20 kilograms within centimeters, even while racing above players and crowds at highway speeds during live broadcasts.

According to some oral traditions and social media history narratives, Ethiopian soldiers used trained animals, including lions, cheetahs, and bees, to fight against Italian colonial forces, particularly around the time of the Battle of Adwa in 1896.

Lions were used to confuse and break enemy ranks to defend their independence. Beyond lions, narratives suggest soldiers used cheetahs, wasps, and hives of bees thrown into enemy camps to cause chaos.

Lions are a significant symbol of Ethiopian royal power (the Lion of Judah), adding to the legendary nature of these accounts.

Ethiopia is recognized as the only African country not officially colonized, maintaining its sovereignty during the Scramble for Africa.

While and animals may have been used, mainstream history highlights that Ethiopia's victory at the Battle of Adwa was primarily driven by a large, well-organized army using modern rifles and artillery, along with strong unity and leadership.

Japan once turned one of its most sacred symbols into a giant speaker system and the internet never got over it. 🎶 In the hills of Kamiyama, Tokushima, stood an extraordinary art installation built from roughly 300 recycled loudspeakers arranged in the form of a traditional torii gate. Created by sculptor Benoît Maubrey for the Kobe Biennale in 2016, the structure featured Bluetooth, line-in, and even an 8-track input, letting passersby connect their phones, speak into microphones, and sing karaoke through it. It was a sacred gateway that literally gave the people a voice.

Standing 4 meters high and 4.8 meters wide, the Karaoke Torii was never meant to produce perfect sound. Maubrey's goal was to evoke memory and human expression through the very imperfections carried by each recycled speaker. In 2019 a typhoon swept through and brought the structure down, ending what had become an interactive monument to both sound and culture. Imagine playing your favorite song through a gate that once stood between the ordinary and the sacred. 🌀 Some doors open with keys. This one opened with music.

A tortoise went missing in Brazil and was found alive nearly 10 years later sealed beneath a family's floor. 🐢 Workers discovered it in Itacaja, Tocantins while breaking tiles to fix a leak. The animal had a deformed shell, extreme sensitivity to light, and pale skin from years in total darkness. Yet it was breathing. Yet it was alive.

Biologist Aluísio Vasconcelos de Carvalho explained that small amounts of oxygen, water, and moisture seeped in through the soil, while the tortoise likely survived on insects that burrowed underground. Veterinary experts note that tortoises can reduce their metabolism by up to 70 percent using stored fat, allowing them to endure extreme conditions for months or even years. The tortoise is believed to be a yellow-footed tortoise, a species known for its remarkably slow biological processes. 🌿 After rescue, it immediately began eating as if making up for lost time. Nature quietly reminds us that survival does not always look the way we expect it to.
