Manda, Akhnoor, once the northernmost tip of Indus Valley Civilization....Right on the banks of Dariyay Chenab is Amberan, a historical place that has its roots with Buddhist culture....Even though the stupa , the circular mounds at the archaeological site are small in size, they are well preserved and maintained.....
I could find a wee bit of similarity with the Bijak Ki Pahadi, Virat Nagar, Jaipur...

Most of us would surely have had this plant in their garden or indoors long before it lost the race to succulent plants ...

Dhansar Baba, Reasi. Abode of Serpent King Vasudevs son Dhansar. Located a few Miles up north of Katra towards Reasi, this place is famous for beautiful Karua stream, small cave and the Abode of Baba Dhansar along with sculptured idols of Vasudev aka Sheshnag and a Shivaling adjacent to it.

Approach is simple as it is located near the main road and with some stairs laid for approach along with pristine surroundings, this place is indeed a delight for a tourist. Best time to visit around Mahashivratri and otherwise during Dec to May.

Akhnoor bridge, Jammu, which was a centerpiece of attraction during Operation Grand Slam launched by Pakistan under the command of Yahya khan and AH Malik, supported well by President Ayub and ZA Bhutto who later became PM of Pakistan . A precursor to Operation Gibraltar, the objective was to cut off Indian hold from Jammu/ Kashmir by choking this strategic route which passed through only bridge connecting Jammu with Kashmir via Rajouri. This bridge is witness to history wherein AMX-13 tanks from India rolled over this puny bridge to safeguard strategic sectors.

As of now, on a regular basis BRO does a yeoman job by taking care of maintenance so as to extend the life of this bridge although a second bridge has been built on the western side that acts a s a bypass.

Majestic dariyay Chenab flows peacefully underneath as it enters into Pakistan some Miles later.....

Right on the banks of the Chenab, adjacent to this bridge, lies the Akhnoor fort as well as couple of temples.

Best time to visit - Jan to April and Oct to Dec..

Majestic Krimchi temples ( Pandava Temples ), Udhampur, Jammu.. ASI information states these arw around 13 to 1400 years old making them one of the oldest temple within JK region. Located adjacent to Birunala, these temples are a few miles within Udhampur region North West to be precise. Beautifully managed, the entire temple precincts is kept clean, tidy and nestled within deep woods further adds to the beauty.of this isolated monument. It will take you one and a half hour from Jammu to reach at this location. Best time to visit- Jan to May and from Oct to Dec.

A few miles north of Chowki Chora towards Bhamla, on the Jammu -Rajouri highway lies these beautiful forests, on the bed of Kalidhar range and the ensuing Valley is Khadhandhara. Right after you cross the Akhnoor main bridge and turn towards your right to connect Jammu - Rajouri highway road, lies many such beautiful valleys, forest ranges, picturesque locations, riveting scenic backgrounds, Zig Zag / Circular roads that stretch right upto Rajouri before one ventures into Mughal Road and all the way upto Shopian. Not much traffic as is visible on the Jammu Srinagar highway for obvious reasons. The belt from Akhnoor till Bhamla is famous for Desi Mangoes used for Pickle, Bhamlay ka Todda ( Maize flour flat bread ), fresh vegetables, maize, fish etc as well as the highly revered Kalidhaar temple.

The majestic water fall at Siyad Baba, Reasi, Jammu..Once a bustling place with devotees taking a dip underneath that waterfall besides offering Puja at the adjoining temple, one freak incident some years back forced Govt authorities to impose a ban visiting anywhere near these waterfall precincts. Nevertheless visitors do throng this site for its ethereal beauty and verdant surroundings, with Mighty Chenab flowing by.

Dharamkund Bridge, just before Sangaldhan, Ramban. Built over Chenab tributary, it's the gateway towards famous spots, notably Ghoda Gali, Sangaldhan tunnel, Sawlakot Hydro project. As one traverses west of Chenab while coming from Jammu side, one can peek into the majestic beauty of adjoining areas as you gain altitude. Do plan out for Ghoda Gali, the ancient Pandava site about which I shall post separately.

Dariyay Chenab during Monsoon. Bisecting the valley, this was clicked a few miles before Salal, Reasi. In coming times, may be year or two, Reasi will be the center of attraction for entire JK region. Keep the region marked in your diaries and if you are planning to visit Jammu anytime in 2023-24, keep Reasi within your itinerary. Chenab Bridge worlds highest one passes through Reasi and so will be the JK rail route. Rafting, Bird watching, Hiking, fishing .... All of it and more is available in Reasi region of Jammu.

Best time to visit- Jan to March and Mid Sept to Dec.
