Day 1–2 – Iceland 2023
It’s been almost three years since this trip, and I never really got around to posting it. The shots aren’t perfect, was not just me with my S5, the lumix 20–60 mm kit lens, Lumix 50 mm f/1.8, and a DJI Mini 3 Pro that fought the wind better than I expected.
I was traveling with three strangers I’d met online. We flew out from Copenhagen, landed in Reykjavík in the evening, picked up our rental car, and found the Airbnb. Everyone was tired and hungry, so we just got food, settled in, and planned the route - about a week around the ring road. Reykjavík would wait for the last day.
First day was more about getting used to the scale of the place. Even from the road, Iceland felt otherworldly ; moss plains, mist, and light that shifted every few minutes. I didn’t have a European license, so the others drove while I tried to capture what I could through the window. By day two, the drive began to feel real, the country looked vast, quiet, and alive in its own rhythm. The light kept changing every few minutes, and I tried to keep up.
These photos are from those first two days the quiet start before Iceland really started to show itself. More from Day 2 coming next.
