The Journey begins 🕉️
--------------------------------
We search for Shiva everywhere—
in temples, in mountains, in scriptures, in rituals—
everywhere except within ourselves.
We know His form by heart.
We know His stories, His symbols, His mantras.
But do we ever stop to ask why His form keeps appearing before us, again and again?
Perhaps because Shiva keeps reminding us of something simple:
To become extraordinary, one must first learn to live simply.
Yet we have always wanted to look extraordinary,
without ever truly wanting to become extraordinary.
" He is yogi "
We speak of lifetimes of sadhana, of silence, of solitude, of inner peace.
And yet, we cannot sit alone with ourselves for even an hour.
We worship the One who accepted everything society rejected.
The One who embraced what the world could not understand.
And yet, we spend our entire lives seeking the approval of that very world.
We want to be praised for everything we do.
We want validation for every choice, every achievement, every good deed—
sometimes without even knowing whether what we did was truly good or merely looked good.
We offer Shiva milk, curd, honey, bilva patra…
believing that the more we offer Him,
the better our planets will treat us.
But have we ever offered Him our ego?
Our jealousy?
Our habit of speaking ill of others?
Our resentment?
Our cruelty?
When we get the opportunity, the courage, or simply the advantage,
we still manage to hurt someone.
And if nothing else,
we hurt someone’s heart.
We call Him Neelkanth—
the One who held poison in His throat,
yet did not allow it to spread through His being.
And look at us.
We collect the poison the world gives us
and carry it everywhere—
into our words, our relationships, our thoughts.
Most painfully,
we keep filling our own hearts and minds with it.
We long so deeply to be loved.
But somewhere along the way, we forget what love actually asks of us.
Love asks us to give.
To be generous.
To be selfless.
To stand true.
To surrender when necessary.
And sometimes, when truth demands it,
to Tandava—to destroy what must be destroyed.
Yet we want love to remain within our rules,
our conditions,
our conveniences.
But love was never meant to live under conditions.
And if there is one love in this universe that makes that truth feel almost divine,
it is the love of Shiva and Parvati—
a love that is not merely beautiful,
but fierce, accepting, transformative and eternal.
We are always asking Shiva to forgive our karmas.
And He does.
Because He is Bholenath.
And we?
We consider ourselves far too intelligent to forgive everyone who has ever hurt us.
Perhaps that is where our real sadhana begins.
Maybe we are not really worshipping Shiva yet.
Maybe we are only trying to make ourselves feel better through His worship
offering rituals to Him,
while refusing to offer our ego.
Because reaching Shiva was never supposed to be about how beautifully we worship Him.
It was always about how deeply we become like Him.
The journey to Shiva is long.
Perhaps we have only just begun.
