ITINERARY PicTour Monsoon Photography Workshop
Darjeeling Hills | Dawaipani

Day 1 | Thursday, 13 August 2026
Arrival & Introduction to Monsoon Storytelling
Participants assemble at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station by 8:00 AM.
Following registration and introductions, we begin our journey to Dawaipani, arriving in time for lunch.
Afternoon Session
After lunch, we set out on a guided walk through nearby villages, tea gardens, and mist-covered mountain landscapes.
Workshop Theme:
Blending people, culture, and daily life within the atmospheric settings of rain, mist, and fog.
Evening Session
As daylight fades, participants will explore techniques for photographing low-light mountain landscapes and capturing the unique moods created by monsoon mist, fog, rain till night.

Day 2 | Friday, 14 August 2026
Heritage Railways & Forest Landscapes
Following an early breakfast, we drive to Ghoom, one of the highest railway stations in India.
Morning Session
Photography around the historic Ghoom Railway Station, with opportunities to document the iconic Darjeeling Himalayan Railway Toy Train as it departs.
Afternoon Session
After lunch, we proceed to the pine forests of Lepcha Jagat, nestled within a rich ecological reserve.
Workshop Theme:
Landscape composition, forest photography, and visual storytelling within the Eastern Himalayan biosphere.
Evening
Return to the homestay at Dawaipani.

Day 3 | Saturday, 15 August 2026
Tea Gardens, Village Life & Independence Day Celebrations
Morning Session
After breakfast, we trek toward the Lebong Valley, walking through tea gardens, village trails, waterfalls, and scenic meadows.
Afternoon Session
Following lunch at the homestay, we explore the lower villages of Dawaipani, including 6th Mile B***y and Bhotia B***y.
Workshop Theme:
Documenting local culture and Independence Day celebrations through candid and environmental portrait photography.
Participants will also visit:
• Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre
• Local handicraft workshops
• Buddhist monastery
Evening Session
Night photography in the lower Dawaipani village, focusing on available light, atmosphere, and storytelling after dark.
Photography Review & Discussion Session

Day 4 | Sunday, 16 August 2026
Farewell to the Hills
Early morning exploration of Upper Dawaipani, offering a final opportunity to photograph village life and monsoon landscapes.
After breakfast, we check out from the homestay and begin our return journey to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station.
Expected arrival at NJP: Afternoon
Tour Concludes
Participants depart with a curated collection of images, new photographic insights, and memorable experiences from the misty landscapes and vibrant communities of the Darjeeling Hills.
