For the last fifteen days, I was in Campbell Bay in the Great Nicobar Island. Official work had taken me to this southernmost island of India, but what an experience it was ! It is an island as remote as it could be. Have been to Little Andaman, even Car Nicobar, but this short stint in this southernmost of all Indian islands did add to some of the most unique experiences of my life. Met a host of people, heard new stories, was privy to a different way of life, saw unique endemic birds and gave company on a full-moon night to the giant leatherbacks laying eggs on the shores of Galathea !
The New Year 2019 came in between, and far removed from the conveniences of a modern life I had no choice but to wait to convey my greetings and best wishes to that world lying out there !
I reached Port Blair this afternoon, and now from the comfort of a one-roomed place I call home, I write this short post to wish all my well-wishers a very HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!
And yes, this is the very first sunrise of the New Year as I saw it from the B.Quarry beach on the southernmost island of India !
Have a wonderful new year, all of you !
