These photos take me back to a special day in May. ✨
For a long time I had dreamed of trying the Helios 44M-4 lens. I had seen so many beautiful photos and films shot with it, and I always wanted to experience its famous swirly bokeh for myself. But I never had the chance to use one.
That changed when Professor Mr. Harry Sir brought the lens for me to try. Along with my friend Ankit I spent the day experimenting with it and from the very first shot I understood why so many people love this lens.
These are some of the photos I captured.
The Helios 44M-4 is a vintage lens made in the former Soviet Union. It is well known for its unique swirly bokeh, where the background seems to spin around the subject, creating a dreamy and cinematic look. The design of the lens was inspired by the famous German Carl Zeiss Biotar lens which is where much of its character comes from.
What I love most about this lens is that it doesn’t try to be perfect. Instead, it adds personality, emotion, and a timeless feel to every frame. That’s why photographers and filmmakers still enjoy using it today.
This wasn’t just about testing a lens—it was about finally experiencing something I had wanted to try for years.
