Siblings share 🐾

This picture recently captured by our naturalist is a great example of living in harmony despite finite resources. Today, on International Tiger Day, this picture is a reminder of our responsibility towards our friends in the wild by being mindful of our actions that impact the fragile ecosystem that they call home.

In the picture is Tipeshwar’s mighty T-2, who we fondly call Talabwali, with her cubs.

On a break during a Tiger Safari tourists tend to share their snacks with birds like Jungle Babblers and Rufous Treepies. This has been happening since past few decades and now the birds are pretty comfortable with humans so much so that they start taking the feed from our hand.

Feeding wild animals can become a habit for them meaning them being dependent on us humans, this also means that they are given excess salts and oils which is not naturally included in their diet and can affect their health. We tried fooling these birds with empty palms but these relatives of crows come with sharp eyes and only perch close to you when they see real food.

One one afternoon at Chiplun I heard quite a lot of birds gathering together to mock a piece of wood that turned it's head to reveal its identity. This nocturnal bird was a rare sight for my place since few years so I wanted to ensure I record all possible moments of this particular afternoon stand (you know nocturnal birds don't have Nightstands so yeah the noon nap)

Also this is my first attempt to do timelapse so do let me know if I should invest more time in making timelapse like these or not.
Do share if you think it's good 😁

A baptist species that can convert anyone into a birdwatcher within seconds, that is the elegance of Indian Paradise Flycatcher.
Commonly seen in forests, gardens and close to human habitations the bird is best observed at Hill stations where visitors would appreciate it's ribbons in the cold weather of winters.

True to its name, the bird descends from the heavens into the realm of the living and calls out "Chàwaaæ Chàwaaæ " in search of mate.

Heliocypha bisignata, commonly called as Stream Ruby is a small damselfly with black head and big eyes. Its thorax is black with pink marks on the dorsum and yellow stripes on the lateral sides. Its fore-wings are transparent with outer fourth opaque in bright copper colors. Hind-wings are with outer third opaque, marked with two series of vitreous spots which glow with a copper or violet reflex. Its abdomen is black, marked with yellow mid-lateral stripes and dots in segments 2 to 6. Female has dull colors and transparent wings. Its pterostigma is black with a pale creamy center. They fly occasionally to reveal their glistening wing patches.
Although this species was known to be endemic from Southern Western Ghats of India, there are records of it from Central Indian Forests. Presence of this species at Pachmarhi biosphere reserve makes this place a unique hotspot showing that this place not only supports central Indian species but also has a blend of Himalayan and Western Ghats species.

Small Buttonquail

A bird I have never thought I'd be spotting in the lawn of my workplace .
The species is known to be found all the way from Spain, Africa, India till the Indonesian grasslands. One good thing about the bird is that it never flushes no matter how close you go and will give full frame images if shot on 100mm lens.

A dominant male tiger from zone 6 of Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve's, Savai Mansingh Sanctuary.

Father of two males this dude us currently in process of mating with a tigress named Noor from RTR's Zone 1.

Males of this size usually don't move much during the day and may sleep for hours. Glad we got some action during this sighting 😁
