It was such an honor to photograph this Jat woman in Gujarat 🌸
The Jat women are very private and shy, so for this elderly woman to allow me to take her portrait meant so much to me.

She wore the traditional large nose ring, called Nathni — handcrafted from gold and set with tiny glass beads. These nose rings are worn from marriage and kept in for life, even while sleeping, as a mark of dignity, strength, and commitment.

Her quiet presence, her lined face, and this timeless ornament told the story of a life deeply rooted in tradition.
