Funny story🏹⬇️
On this test shoot I learned an important filmmaking lesson: if you’re the DP, you technically can’t complain about the actor… even when the actor is also you. 🎬
The crew had their clearly defined professional roles. Meanwhile I was switching between framing shots and stepping into frame like, “Hold on, let me just direct myself to look more emotionally complex while playing guitar.”
Budget wasn’t even the issue — I just wanted an excuse to play guitar dramatically under cinematic lighting. Pure artistic research, obviously.
Some directors chase performances. Some DPs chase light. I chased both… and nearly missed focus doing it.
10/10 would cast myself again. Probably shouldn’t. But would.
