Dispute in BJP over calling former CM Bhajan Lal a "Badmash"; BJP MLA close to Kuldeep lashed out
Kuldeep Bishnoi remains silent, while the Bishnoi community takes a tough stand
Following Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma's remark calling former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal a "badmash," a reaction has emerged from a close associate of Kuldeep Bishnoi. This statement has sparked internal opposition within the BJP. Randhir Panihar, a BJP MLA and close aide to Bhajan Lal’s younger son Kuldeep Bishnoi, stated that he will register his protest by raising this matter with Chief Minister Nayab Saini, State President Mohanlal Badoli, and the central leadership.
MLA Randhir Panihar said, "I am extremely shocked. A senior leader like Rekha Sharma should have thought before making such a comment. I received information about this last night, which caused me great pain. People across the country hold Chaudhary Bhajan Lal and Bansi Lal in high regard."
On the other hand, Chander Mohan, Bhajan Lal’s son and a Congress MLA, has already sent a legal notice to Rekha Sharma. Meanwhile, no reaction has surfaced yet from BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi or his son Bhavya Bishnoi.
Anger is also brewing within the Bishnoi community over MP Rekha Sharma's statement. A meeting of the Bishnoi Sabha has been called today at the Bishnoi Temple in Hisar to discuss this issue.
Jagdish Karwasra, President of the Bishnoi Sabha, Hisar, said that Rekha Sharma should offer a public apology. He warned that if the MP does not apologize, she will face protests, and the Bishnoi community will oppose her wherever her programs are held. Pradeep Beniwal, former President of the Bishnoi Sabha, Hisar, called the BJP MP’s statement completely wrong. He described Chaudhary Bhajan Lal as an exceptional person and a visionary leader who never engaged in "dirty politics." Beniwal also remarked that BJP leaders have commented on Bhajan Lal before, adding that Kuldeep Bishnoi should speak up for his father and elder brother.
Haryana BJP faces internal friction after Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma referred to former CM Bhajan Lal as a "badmash," prompting backlash from party MLA Randhir Panihar and the Bishnoi community. While Congress MLA Chander Mohan has issued a legal notice, the silence of BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi has highlighted brewing discontent. The Bishnoi Sabha has called a meeting to address the controversial remarks.
On April 27, 2026, the office bearers of the Shree Bishnoi Sabha, District , along with prominent and respected members of the community from various villages across the district, held a meeting. They unanimously decided to express their strong objection to the remarks made by Rajya Sabha MP Mrs. Rekha Sharma regarding the former Chief Minister, Union Minister, and "Bishnoi Ratna," the late Chaudhary Bhajan Lal Ji, during an election rally for the Panchkula Municipal Corporation Mayoral post.
The assembly resolved to write to Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, BJP National President Shri Nitin Nabin, State Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini, and State Party President Shri Mohan Lal Badoli, requesting that appropriate action be taken against Mrs. Rekha Sharma.
