"I found my calling to write this book after working/ discussing TOD with academics, researchers, planning practitioners from developing countries. It was apparent that TOD cannot mean the same to them, as it means to the developed countries. There are huge demographic, social, economic and urban differences between the two groups. I understood that not only is it necessary to define TOD in the context of developing countries, it is also important to encourage the use of technical methods to plan for it. With these broad ideas, 3 years ago, I started writing this book. During the process, there were so many more ideas that found place in this comprehensive guide."
