Literally awful 👀😏

But in all seriousness...

Lago di Carezza is one of the most beautiful (and accessible!) lakes in the Dolomites 🌊

Some people claim it's overrated...and I couldn't disagree more. Jagged mountain peaks reflecting in emerald green waters? What's not to love?

Here’s exactly how to visit Karersee this year, plus essential tips for timing it right.

Lago di Carezza (also known as "Karersee" and the “Rainbow Lake") is hands down one of the most magical lakes you'll encounter in the Dolomites. This emerald gem sits like a mirror reflecting the towering Latemar mountain range, creating a scene so stunning it almost feels too perfect

⛰️🇮🇹 5 things I wish I knew before visiting the Dolomites for the first time ⤵️

I live in northern Italy and work in the Dolomites almost weekly throughout the spring-fall seasons, helping others plan trips and spending my days exploring the mountains myself. These are the most common mistakes I see, and what I wish I’d known before my own first visit!

1️⃣ The region is bigger than you might think

This is NOT a cram-it-all-into-two-days type of destination. Slow down, spend more time in each area, and leave plenty of room to experience local culture and cuisine.

2️⃣ Driving times are longer than they look on a map

Reaching various highlights means winding mountain pass roads. Staying in Cortina d’Ampezzo? It can take nearly 2 hours to reach Seceda or Alpe di Siusi. Based in Val Gardena? Expect at least 1.5 hours to Lago di Braies. Plan your days (and your accommodations) with this in mind.

3️⃣ The lift system is amazing, but schedule-dependent

Gondolas, cable cars, and chairlifts can shorten hikes significantly. Just be sure to check operating dates and hours in advance! Lifts typically run during daylight hours only, and they do close entirely during shoulder season months.

4️⃣ Rifugio food is genuinely top tier

Skip the backpack PB&J. Wiener schnitzel, apple strudel and a cappuccino on top of a mountain? Delicious meals are the norm around here!

5️⃣ You’ll encounter multiple languages

…And it can get a little bit confusing! Italian, German, Ladin (in some areas), and English are all common. I’ve never had a problem getting by with English in larger towns. In quieter village destinations or off-the-beaten-path mountain huts, have Google Translate at the ready.

Happy travels 🤍

Planning to visit Alpe di Siusi in the Dolomites for the first time? 🌸
Here’s exactly how to get to Seiser Alm (Europe's largest alpine meadow!), plus the best hiking trails, places to eat, and where to stay nearby.

How would you describe a fairytale scene? For me, it's endless rolling green meadows stretching out beneath dramatic peaks, plus some rustic wooden huts and grazing cows sprinkled across the wildflower-decorated landscape. The best thing about this dream location? It's actually real! Alpe di Siusi,

Gift guide: For those who find magic in our national parks 🎁

This curated guide is full of both useful & meaningful picks that they’ll actually use (at every budget)!

When it’s time to buy a gift for the outdoorsy person in your life, these questions probably pop up: Do they already have that gear? Will they actually use it? Should I just get them a gift card instead? If you have a friend or family member who spends every free weekend chasing trail markers and ...

You don’t have to go far from Anchorage, Alaska to see glaciers up close ❄️ Here are the best ones you can actually visit (plus how to get there)!

Hey Siri, play "Alaska" by Maggie Rogers. 🎶 Planning a trip to Alaska soon? Seeing the glaciers is probably at the very top of your must-do list. Or at least, it should be! But with so many to choose from (there are over 650 named glaciers in Alaska, and an estimated 100,000+ in total)
