"Failure".

Questa foto è il risultato di un piccolo fallimento: in che senso? Ve lo spiego subito. L'obiettivo di quella giornata era di raggiungere la vetta di Pizzo Deta partendo da Prato di Campoli. Un trekking discretamente impegnativo (900m di dislivello), considerata tutta l'attrezzatura che mi devo portare al seguito. Purtroppo ho da sempre un serio problema con il rapporto tempo/ottimismo che mi ha fatto partire da Roma con un ritardo mostruoso rispetto ai miei compagni di ventura. A pochi metri dalla vetta, consapevole del fatto che mai ce l'avrei fatta a raggiungerla
in tempo per il tramonto, mi sono a malincuore fermato per portare a casa almeno uno scatto decente (quello, appunto, di questo post). La radura che vedete a valle è Prato di Campoli, il punto di partenza del mio trekking sconclusionato. 😂

This picture is the result of a small failure: in what way? I'll explain immediately. The goal of that day was to reach the summit of Pizzo Deta starting from Prato di Campoli. A fairly challenging trek (900m of elevation gain), considering all the equipment I had to bring with me. Unfortunately, I have always had a serious problem with the time/optimism ratio, which made me leave Rome with a monstrous delay compared to my fellow adventurers. A few meters from the summit, aware of the fact that I would have never made it to reach it
in time for the sunset, I reluctantly stopped to bring home at least one decent shot (the one in this post). The glade you see in the valley is Prato di Campoli, the starting point of my rambling trek. 😂

"Molto vicino"

Nei prossimi giorni vi porterò in un posto che molti di voi conosceranno, anche perchè è una mèta gettonatissima per una gita fuoriporta. Sto parlando delle Cascate di Monte Gelato, a due passi da Roma. Visitarle all'alba, però, ha tutto un altro fascino. Oltre alla completa solitudine, c'è anche un fenomeno per cui il sole che passa tra le fronde degli alberi crea, grazie all'acqua vaporizzata dalle cascate, dei veri e propri fasci di luce che lasciano a bocca aperta!

"Very close"

Over the next few days I'll take you to a place that many of you will probably know, as it's a very popular destination for a trip out of town. I'm talking about the waterfalls of Monte Gelato, a stone's throw from Rome. Visiting them at dawn, however, has a whole other charm. Besides the complete solitude the place offers, there is also a phenomenon whereby the sun passing through the foliage of the trees and thanks to the water vaporized by the falls, creates real beams of light that leave you speechless!

This was the last photo taken during my short but intense stay in the Faroe Islands. Alarm at dawn, about one hour to take pictures in the majestic scenery of Eidi beach and then road to the airport, where a three-day odyssey to go back home and a three-month lockdown would await us. 😅

Questa è stata l'ultima foto scattata nel mio breve ma intenso soggiorno alle Faroe. Sveglia all'alba, un'oretta di foto nello scenario maestoso della spiaggia di Eiði e poi diretti all'aeroporto, dove ci avrebbe aspettato un'odissea di tre giorni per tornare a casa ed un lockdown di tre mesi. 😅

Saksun is one of the reasons why i went to the Faroe Islands. A small village of a few stone houses with thatched roofs, located in an incredible bay where the sunset light enters, with waterfalls and streams all over to embellish the landscape, almost like in a fairy tale. If you don't want to ruin this idyll, however, pay attention not to step on the grass of the pastures. In fact, in two seconds time, you could find yourself surrounded by very unfriendly shepherds, as has happened to my two traveling companions and i...😂
