🌱 🅡︎🅞︎🅞︎🅣︎🅔︎🅓︎ 🅘︎🅝︎ 🅟︎🅤︎🅡︎🅟︎🅤︎🅢︎🅔︎, Growing for the Future: Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Continues! 🇪🇹✨
What started in 2019 as a vision to combat climate change and restore degraded landscapes has grown into one of the largest mass mobilization environmental movements in human history.
🌳 The Progress So Far
48+ Billion Seedlings Planted: Millions of citizens across every corner of Ethiopia have united every rainy season to plant trees.
Forest Cover Growth: Expanded national forest cover from 17% to 23.6%, revitalizing degraded watersheds and stopping soil erosion.
Economic Boost: Millions of fruit-bearing plants (avocado, mango, papaya, coffee, cocoa) are directly boosting local livelihoods, food security, and agricultural exports.
🎯 The 2026 Plan & Targets
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed officially launched the 2026 Green Legacy Season with our most ambitious annual target yet:
🟢 Target for 2026: 8 Billion Seedlings to be planted during this year's rainy season.
📈 Long-Term Horizon: Steadily driving toward the overall goal of 65 Billion trees.
🍎 Diversified Focus: Heavy emphasis on food security with new fruit varieties, fodder crops, and economically valuable trees like pomegranate, macadamia, and cocoa alongside indigenous species.
Every seedling planted today is clean air, fertile soil, and economic stability for future generations. Let’s leave a lasting green footprint! 💚
