Venice is a Sound - an analogue journey — documenting one of the most iconic cities in the world, In a world which demands instant everything i settle into the pace of Venice which invites slowness, presence, and deep observation through the process of film. The paradox of film has always been a fascination of mine. The decisive moment captured on celluloid, which is then slowly revealed through layers of time, much like the way Venice feels to me. Venice is a Sound is an ongoing record.

These images were taken on a road trip in italy I went on a few years ago with some friends. One friend was tracing his family roots, so went off together travelling through Tuscany and down into the south of Italy. We visited the house he’s buying, and inside, I found this old camera. He handed it to me — I loaded a roll of film and shot the rest of the trip with it.

It was a tiny, almost toy-like camera, and I had no idea what the results would be. But I’m really happy with some of these shots. It’s a reminder that it doesn’t really matter what camera you use — shooting film is always a pleasure for me.

Film captures more than just the image; you pick up a little bit of the energy, the atmosphere, and it becomes a memory you can feel.

Story is everything.

1/ The lady we met in the town where my friend’s grandfather had lived as a boy. She shared stories, gave us information, and cried when we left — this was our last moment before saying goodbye.
2/ An old man in a local bar who helped us track down people connected to my friend’s grandfather.
3/ Orange trees in Calabria.
4/ The library at the old convent, Badia a Coltibuono.
5/ Arezzo.
6/ An Airbnb somewhere along the journey.
7/ On the road, under the rain.

There is nothing more relaxing and restorative than taking a long walk through the vineyards with Paperina.
The microclimate here is extraordinary — the air is pure, clean, and untouched by any form of pollution. In Monteriggioni, this purity is no coincidence: the land has never been subjected to intensive agriculture, and generations of people have worked with deep respect for nature, preserving its balance and beauty.

Paperina and I wander through these landscapes, crossing paths with hunters and hikers along the ancient Via Francigena.
Out here, you can truly feel the benefits of country life — living in harmony with nature is the most natural act for a human being. And yes, you can still be a little country chic.

I woke up this morning with a clear and persistent thought: how essential it is, today more than ever, to support the creative process. Nurturing creativity means building a living memory of gestures, ideas, and actions that will one day become history. Too often we move through the present forgetting that there will be a tomorrow — a tomorrow in which others will read, observe, and harvest the fruits of what we are shaping today.

Every time I turn the pages of the old ledgers of the villa and the estate, I’m reminded of how historical cycles always return. The challenges repeat themselves, and so, very often, do the solutions. What truly marks a turning point in the flow of history is the spark — the flair, the genius. Its manifestation in art reaches us not only as beauty, but as a living testimony of eras long gone, of instincts, movements, currents, and passions that once burned vibrantly.

This is why I believe so strongly in establishing a place dedicated to art, culture, and the preservation of heritage. In the coming months, the Limonaia and Villa La Posta will not only host art and artists; they will become active workshops — true Renaissance forges where creativity is generated, nourished, and kept alive, ready to resurface powerful, renewed, and relevant for the centuries ahead.

And so I open this vision to anyone who wishes to contribute: your help, your insight, your thoughts — even your disagreement, if that is what you feel. Every voice is meaningful.

Wishing you a wonderful start to the week..

Today I’m taking a day off, letting myself be soothed by the colors of autumn and even indulging in a few small whims. But I already know that the next few days and weeks will be intense. We’re entering a challenging phase of planning for the development of The Gallery at La Limonaia which will become the first gallery along the Via Francigena—a space entirely dedicated to art, culture, and artistic production.

This is a project I care about deeply, and I’ll be sharing every step of its progress with you.
I’m ready to receive your requests, ideas, and suggestions: I want to build this journey together with you.
