If you fix these five things, your white life photos are gonna change completely
1. Background matters
A beautiful subject in a messy background is still a messy photo. Move your position, not just your camera aim for a clear background that doesn’t overlap with your subject and will make it stand out.
2.Anticipation > chasing
Don’t follow or chase the animals to get your shot. You need to be ahead of them and let them come to you. This is key. You have a great wildlife shot. Anticipate where they’re gonna go. If you’re reacting, you’re already late. Learn behavior, stay still, and let the moment come to you.
3. Light is everything
Soft light shapes your subject. Harsh light flattens it. Don’t expect to have an amazing shot if you’re trying to photograph your subject around mid-day wake up early in the morning when the light is soft and glowy and don’t miss the peak hour before sunset. Plus, this is when the animals are the most active because the temperature dropped.
4. Not every shot needs to be close
Zooming out can tell a bigger story. Environment adds context, mood, and scale. Plus not all of us can afford to have extremely big zoom lenses that are quite expensive. And that’s fine. It’s not because you have the best gear that you’ll get the best job sometimes framing the environment gives a for stronger storytelling.
5. Behavior and action beats stillness
A slightly imperfect image with action or emotion will always be stronger than a technically perfect but empty frame. Don’t stop shooting because you got the perfect still shot wait until the animal moves or interact with his environment. You’ll get a stronger photo.
When all of this aligns…
that’s when your photos become next level.
