Light shapes the story long before the shutter is pressed. ✨📸

On 8th July, our Photography Incubation Class at Tawi Hub Studio explored the relationship between light, shadow, and exposure, learning how to read available light, balance it with intention, and use metering as a guide to create images that feel natural, expressive, and true to the moment.

The session was facilitated by photographer Tommie Ominde 🔥 whose thoughtful approach and practical insights created space for experimentation, curiosity, and a deeper appreciation of the fundamentals.

The Sanara Baruu photography incubation program took off this week on the 29th, Monday at Tawi Hub studio. The facilitator, photographer lilboybee, walked them through the Camera anatomy and manual focus where they learnt the functions of different equipment and lenses, how and where to use different shooting formats, the exposure triangle and how each controls image brightness.

For practicals, they took turns taking photographs of a stationary item changing the ISO, shutter speed and aperture.✨
At the end of the class, the participants were confident enough to use the camera😊

Our Film Incubation Program participants recently dove into the world of sound, exploring different types of microphones, recording techniques, ambient sound, and the vital role sound plays in bringing stories to life.🎬📽️

To put their learning into practice, they recorded a dialogue scene and captured ambient sound under the guidance of their filmmaker, sound recordist and facilitator Desmond Okeyo at Tawi Hub Studio. It was a hands-on session that strengthened both their technical skills and creative storytelling. 🎬✨

On the 9th of June our film incubation participants were taught on all things production by the award winning producer facilitator Mumo Liku .
He exposed them on the producer's roles, budgeting basics, scheduling, crew roles and location scouting. They engaged in exercises like creating a production plan and script breakdown.🔥 At the end of the session, the emerging artists were able to make a production plan.😌
