🎙️ LifeTALK: Is Jesus Part of Your Routine… or the Center of It? ☕✝️

What does your daily routine look like?

Coffee. ☕
Checking your phone. 📱
Work.
Emails.
Social media.
Family responsibilities.
A long list of things competing for your attention.

But here’s a deeper question:
Where does Jesus fit into the actual rhythm of your everyday life?
Not simply, “Are you a Christian?”

But practically…
Where is Jesus in your morning?
Where is Jesus in your work?
Where is Jesus in your marriage?
Where is Jesus in your decisions?
Where is Jesus in the ordinary moments nobody else sees?

The devotional I read this morning was about routine, and it reminded me that following Jesus was never meant to become one religious activity squeezed somewhere into an already busy life.

God calls us to something deeper...
📖 Make God’s Word Part of Everyday Life

Deuteronomy 6:6–7 says:
“These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.”

God wasn’t describing one quiet-time appointment during the day.

He was describing a life saturated with His truth.
At home.
While traveling.
In conversation.
When waking up.
When going to sleep.
In ordinary moments.
The Word of God isn’t supposed to stay closed on a table until tomorrow morning.

His truth should shape how we think, speak, love, forgive, work, lead, respond to conflict, and interact with the people around us.

🙏 Build Your Prayer Life Before the Crisis

Daniel 6:10 says that Daniel:
“…continued kneeling on his knees three times a day, praying and giving thanks before his God, as he had been doing previously.”

That last phrase is powerful:
“As he had been doing previously.” — Daniel 6:10

Daniel didn’t suddenly discover prayer when his life was threatened.

Prayer was already his routine.

Sometimes we treat prayer like an emergency button.

Something goes wrong and suddenly:
“God, help me!”
“Lord, I need You!”
And praise God that we can cry out to Him when everything falls apart.

But what if we knew His presence before the storm came?

What if prayer wasn’t merely where we went during emergencies?
What if prayer was where we lived?
Scripture even tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17:
“Pray without ceasing.”
That doesn’t mean we spend every second with our eyes closed.
It means we can live in ongoing fellowship with God.
Pray while driving.
Pray while working.
Pray while washing dishes.
Pray while creating.
Pray while folding clothes.
Thank Him when something beautiful happens.
Talk with Him when something falls apart.
Bring Him into the ordinary moments.

🤝 Don’t Neglect Christian Community

Acts 17:2 says:
“And according to Paul’s custom, he went to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures.”

Following Jesus was never intended to become :
“Me, my Bible, and nobody else.”

We need the Body of Christ.

We need brothers and sisters who encourage us.

People who pray with us.

People who lovingly correct us.

People who remind us of truth when our emotions are screaming something different.

Proverbs 27:17 says:
“Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

Church communities aren’t perfect because they’re filled with imperfect people.

Including us.

But God still uses His people to strengthen His people.

❤️ God Isn’t Simply Item #1 on the Checklist

We often say :
“Put God first.”

And that is important.

Jesus Himself said in Matthew 6:33:
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

But sometimes we picture life like this :
God
Marriage
Family
Work
Friends
Everything else

I think there is an even deeper way to understand it.
Instead of only saying :
God first…

Think :
God in my marriage.
God in my business.
God in my finances.
God in my friendships.
God in my creativity.
God in my rest.
God in my travel.
God in what I consume online.
God in the way I speak to other people.
Jesus doesn’t simply want to occupy slot number one.
He wants Lordship over the entire list.

🌿 Jesus Said to Abide

Jesus says in John 15:4:
“Abide in Me, and I in you.”

That word matters...
Abide.
Remain.
Stay.
Live connected to Him.

Jesus didn’t say :
“Visit Me occasionally.”

He didn’t say :
“Come find Me only when everything goes wrong.”

He said :
“Abide in Me.” — John 15:4

Christianity isn’t supposed to be a ritual we perform.
It is a relationship with the living Christ. ☝️

🌅 A Simple Daily Rhythm

In the morning, before allowing the world to tell you what to think, allow God’s Word to shape your mind.

Romans 12:2 tells us :
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

Before the news.
Before social media.
Before everybody else’s opinions.
Start with truth.

Throughout your day, talk with God.

Bring Him into your work.
Your marriage.
Your conversations.
Your decisions.
Your errands.
Your creativity.
Your difficult moments.

Then in the evening, maybe ask :

Lord, where did I see You today?
Where did I miss You?
Is there anything I need to surrender?
Who can I pray for?

And remember, we aren’t doing these things to earn God’s love.

1 John 4:19 says :
“We love, because He first loved us.”

Our obedience should flow from a heart that has already been loved by God.

🔥 Today’s LifeTALK Takeaway

Don’t simply make room for Jesus in your life. Build your life around Jesus.

Because our routines become habits.

Our habits shape our character.

And our character influences the direction of our lives.

So here is the question I’m asking myself today :

What are my current routines forming me into?

What fruit are they producing?

And most importantly :

Are they helping me become more like Jesus, or are they slowly pulling me farther away from Him?

Psalm 145:2 says:
“Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever.”

Not only Sunday.
Not only when life is hard.
Not only when we need something.
Every day.
Morning.
Afternoon.
Evening.
Work.
Marriage.
Family.
Business.
Creativity.
Rest.
The beautiful moments.
The difficult ones.

Let’s make Christ the center of it all.

“Abide in Me, and I in you.” — John 15:4 🙏☝️

I recently watched a Catholic ceremony involving the relics of St. Agatha, and it raised a sincere question in my heart:

Is the veneration of relics actually taught in Scripture?

Catholics distinguish between “veneration” and “worship,” and I want to represent that belief fairly. But when relics are kissed, crowned, carried in religious processions, and treated as sacred, shouldn’t we lovingly examine these practices in the light of God’s Word?

This article is not written to insult Catholics or question anyone’s sincerity. Many dear friends and family members are Catholic, and I once identified as Catholic myself. My desire is not to win an argument, but to point all of us—including myself—toward Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture. ☝️

Please read it with an open Bible and an open heart. I welcome thoughtful, respectful conversation.

Can Christians become so focused on defending their interpretation of Scripture that we lose sight of the One to whom Scripture points?

Biblical truth matters. But when our convictions turn into pride, discernment becomes suspicion, and secondary disagreements become tests of fellowship, the Body of Christ suffers...

Let's explore how the enemy can exploit interpretive differences to produce division and isolation...and how we can pursue truth without abandoning humility, love, and unity.

We may not interpret every passage identically, but we share one Lord, one Spirit, one hope, and one calling.

The question is not only, “Am I right?”

We must also ask, “Am I becoming like Jesus?”

WHEN THE GOSPEL CONFRONTS THE DARKNESS ✝️🔥

The Gospel is a message of incredible love, mercy, forgiveness, and grace—but it is also a message that confronts darkness and calls us to repentance.

Spiritual warfare is real. Sin is real. The enemy is real.

But here's something we cannot forget:

People are not our enemy.

We are called to stand against darkness while loving the very people Jesus came to save. We aren't called to obsess over Satan—we're called to fix our eyes on Jesus and stand in the victory He has already won.

And sometimes the first place we need to look isn't at the darkness around us, but within our own hearts:

“Jesus, is there anything in me that still needs to be surrendered to You?”

That is where repentance begins. That is where freedom begins. That is where transformation begins.

“So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36

What a powerful doxology from Paul. 🙏 This passage shifts our eyes from our limitations to God's limitless power...

Ephesians 3:20–21 (NASB1995)

"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen."

💭 Reflection

Paul had just prayed that believers would be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, rooted in Christ's love, and filled with the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:14–19). Then he ends with this breathtaking declaration.

God is able.

Our prayers are often limited by our perspective, resources, and imagination. God is not.

He doesn't merely meet expectations—He surpasses them.

Beyond what we ask.

Beyond what we can even imagine.

Beyond what we believe is possible.

His power is already at work.

Notice Paul doesn't say God might work one day. He says His power works within us.

The same Holy Spirit who raised Christ from the dead lives in every believer (Romans 8:11). God often accomplishes extraordinary things through ordinary people who simply trust and obey Him.

The goal is God's glory.

God's greatest works ultimately point back to Him—not to our success, reputation, or comfort.

When He answers prayers in ways we never expected, our response should be worship:

"To Him be the glory."

❤️ How We Can Live This Today

Pray bold prayers, knowing God is never limited by your circumstances.

Trust Him even when you don't see immediate answers.

Remember that His plans are often bigger and better than your own.

Give Him the glory for every blessing, opportunity, and victory.

Luke 1:37 — "For nothing will be impossible with God."

Romans 8:28 — God works all things together for good for those who love Him.

🙏 Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You that You are able to do immeasurably more than I could ever ask or imagine. Strengthen my faith to trust Your power instead of my own abilities. Help me pray boldly, walk faithfully, and surrender every plan to You. May everything You accomplish in my life bring glory to Your name and point others to Jesus Christ. Amen. ✝️ 🙌

What a beautiful promise. ❤️

Revelation 21:4 (NASB1995) says:

> "And He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away."

🌿 Context

John is describing the new heaven and new earth after sin, Satan, death, and evil have been judged. This isn't merely about going to heaven after we die—it's about God's ultimate restoration of creation, where He dwells with His people forever (Revelation 21:1–3).

💭 What this means for us today

This verse reminds us that:

God sees every tear you've ever cried.

Pain and suffering are temporary, not eternal.

Death does not have the final word because of Jesus Christ.

The brokenness we experience today will one day be completely undone.

Notice that God Himself wipes away our tears. It's a deeply personal picture of His love and compassion. He doesn't simply remove suffering from a distance—He draws near to His people.

🙏 How can we live this out?

Hold onto hope even during difficult seasons.

Comfort those who are grieving with the promise that this world is not our final home.

Live with an eternal perspective, investing in what lasts rather than only what is temporary.

Share the hope of Christ with others who are searching for peace.

📖 Related Scriptures

John 14:1–3 — Jesus promises to prepare a place for His followers.

Isaiah 25:8 — God will swallow up death forever and wipe away tears.

Romans 8:18 — Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory to come.

1 Corinthians 15:54–57 — Death is swallowed up in victory through Christ.

🙏 Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible hope You've given us through Jesus. When life is filled with sorrow, pain, or uncertainty, remind us that these things are only temporary. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on the day when You will make all things new, wipe away every tear, and dwell with us forever. Fill us with peace, strengthen our faith, and use our lives to point others to the eternal hope found in Christ. In Jesus' name, Amen.

> "Our greatest hope is not that this life gets easier, but that one day Christ will make all things new." ✝️💙

I grew up knowing about God...

But there is a difference between knowing about someone and actually knowing them. ✝️

Following Jesus has challenged my traditions, my assumptions, my pride, my morality, and the way I treat people, including those who disagree with me.

I’m not interested in defending empty religion. I want to know the truth, follow Jesus, and allow the fruit of that relationship to be visible in how I live and love others. ❤️

Religion asks, “Did I complete the checklist?”
Relationship asks, “Am I becoming more like Christ?”

Have you ever felt like God couldn’t use you?

Maybe you’ve thought, I’m not talented enough. I don’t know enough. I’ve made too many mistakes. Someone else could do this better than me.

But here’s the truth: God already knew your limitations before He called you. Your weakness didn’t surprise Him. 🙏🏽

Moses felt inadequate. Elijah was exhausted and discouraged. Paul learned that his strength came from Christ, not himself.

God isn’t asking you to pretend you’re strong. He’s inviting you to depend on the One who is. ✝️🔥

Your weakness, surrendered to God, can become the place where His strength is most clearly seen.

💬 Question of the Day: Where do you feel weak or inadequate right now, and what would it look like to surrender that weakness to God?

🕊️ R E S T | 🎙️ LifeTALK Daily Devotional

What is God’s prescription for our tiredness?

Today we talked about biblical rest, not just taking a nap, not just getting a day off, but finding true rest in Christ.

📖 Jesus said:

“Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28

God never designed us to run on empty.

Just like a phone at 1% needs to be plugged into the power source, our souls need to be plugged into Christ through prayer, Scripture, worship, and intentional rest.

Work is good, but anxiety-filled striving is not.

True rest begins when we stop trying to carry what only Jesus can carry.

Question of the Day:
Where do you usually go when you’re tired, more work, more distractions, or to Jesus?

🧠 C O N S C I E N C E | 🎙️ LifeTALK Daily Devotional

What is your conscience?

Can you trust it?

And what happens when you keep ignoring it?

These are the questions we explored during today’s LifeTALK Daily Devotional.

God has given each of us a conscience that alerts us when something isn’t right, much like the warning lights on the dashboard of a car. Those warnings aren’t there to shame us—they’re there to protect us and point us back to Him.

But here’s the important part…

Our conscience is a gift from God, but it is not our ultimate authority. It must continually be shaped by God’s Word and led by the Holy Spirit.

📖 Today’s Scriptures:
• Genesis 42:21 – Joseph’s brothers’ guilty conscience
• Romans 2:15 – God’s law written on our hearts
• 1 Timothy 1:19 – Keep a clear conscience
• 1 Timothy 4:2 – A seared conscience
• 1 Corinthians 4:4 – The Lord is our Judge
• 1 John 1:9 – Confess your sins and receive forgiveness

Three practical ways to keep a healthy conscience:

✅ Stay in God’s Word.

✅ Quickly confess sin.

✅ Don’t ignore the Holy Spirit’s conviction.

The longer we ignore God’s prompting, the quieter our conscience becomes. The quicker we obey, the more sensitive we become to His voice.

One statement from today’s devotional that I hope sticks with you:

“A clear conscience is wonderful, but an informed conscience—one shaped by Scripture—is even better.”

❓Question of the Day:

Has there ever been a time when your conscience warned you before you made a decision? Looking back, do you see God’s hand and grace in that moment?

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

Grace and peace,
Jay Jayasuriya
