Cyclone Ditwah caused several landslides in the Nuwara Eliya District due to continuous heavy rainfall, reminding us of how vulnerable our hill country is to natural disasters. These landslides damaged houses, blocked main and rural roads, and made transportation and rescue efforts very difficult. Many families had to evacuate from high-risk areas, while some villages were temporarily cut off by soil and rock debris. The scenes show the power of nature and the challenges faced by our communities, highlighting the importance of preparedness, care for the environment, and supporting one another during such difficult times.
