කහ පියකරු - Yellow-browed Bulbul

The bird in the image is the Yellow-browed Bulbul (Acritillas indica), a species primarily found in the wet zone forests of Sri Lanka and Southern India. It is easily identified by its vibrant olive-green upperparts and bright yellow underparts, along with a prominent yellow stripe above its eyes. These birds are social creatures, often seen in small groups or mixed-species flocks, foraging for berries and small insects. Known for their melodious whistling calls, they play a vital role in the ecosystem as seed dispersers.

කහ පියකරු (Yellow-browed Bulbul) ප්‍රධාන වශයෙන් ශ්‍රී ලංකාව සහ දකුණු ඉන්දියාවේ තෙත් කලාපීය වනාන්තරවල දැකිය හැකි ලස්සන පක්ෂියෙකි. මෙම පක්ෂියාගේ සිරුරේ ඉහළ කොටස ඔලිව් කොළ පැහැයට හුරු වන අතර, යටි කොටස සහ ඇසට ඉහළින් ඇති තීරුව තද කහ පැහැයෙන් යුක්ත වේ. මොවුන් සාමාන්‍යයෙන් කුඩා රංචු වශයෙන් ගැවසෙන අතර පලතුරු සහ කුඩා කෘමීන් ආහාරයට ගනිති. ඔවුන්ගේ මිහිරි නාදය වනාන්තර තුළ නිතර ඇසෙන අතර, පරිසර පද්ධතියේ සමතුලිතතාවය රැකීමට මොවුන් වැදගත් මෙහෙවරක් ඉටු කරයි.
