The Tricolored Munia (Lonchura malacca) is a seed-eating estrildid finch whose stout, bluish bill is perfectly adapted for feeding on grass seeds. Often seen in small flocks, these birds play an important role in grassland ecosystems through seed dispersal and the natural regeneration of native vegetation.

Captured in the breathtaking Horton Plains National Park, this tiny finch is a reminder that the island's highland ecosystems support an extraordinary diversity of life, where even the smallest species play a vital ecological role.
