Hello everyone! For those of you thinking of diving in the Philippines…

This was 2 weeks ago in Malapascua Island — and I’m not even kidding, I saw the thresher sharks almost immediately as we were descending. Like… straight away. I love dives like that 😅

For the past 4 years, I’ve been going back to the Philippines every year to dive, and I know planning a trip there can feel a bit overwhelming at first.

I put together a simple quiz to help you figure out where to go and how to plan your route (based on your time, budget, and what you want to see) — basically the stuff I wish I had when I started.

If you’re planning a trip and feel a bit stuck, happy to share it:

The Philippines has thousands of islands and some of the best diving in the world.

It also has absolutely overwhelming trip planning.

I’ve dived different parts of the Philippines myself — so I mapped it into a 2-minute quiz that tells you exactly where to go based on your experience and travel style.

Take it here 👇

Most people choose a dive center based on the dives — but what happens behind the scenes matters too.

In this clip, from shares how their team approaches being “eco-active” in everything they do — even in the small details most divers don’t notice.

This is Part 3 of my 5-part interview series, where Natalie talks about what sets their dive operations apart on Roatan.

Blink and you’d swim right past this 😳

Spotted this Pikachu nudibranch while muck diving in 📍Dauin, Philippines.

Bright yellow, easy to miss if you’re moving too fast, and it doesn’t swim — it just crawls across the sand like this.

Dauin is one of those places that keeps macro divers coming back.

👉 Save this if you love the small, weird, wonderful side of the ocean 💙

Most cruise passengers don’t realize this kind of dive day is actually possible from the port.

During my Roatan cruise stop, I skipped the usual beach plan and went scuba diving instead.

Best decision of the whole port day.

Instead of booking the ship excursion, I independently booked a 2-tank dive in Roatan with and had a driver waiting outside the port gate.

Thirty minutes later I was in West End.
That same morning I was underwater on the Roatan side of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef — the second-largest reef system in the world.

Most people assume you don’t have enough time to dive during a cruise stop, but with the right logistics it actually works really well.

So I mapped out exactly how I organized mine.

If you’re stopping in Roatan on a cruise and wondering if sustainable diving is doable, you can download my free Roatan Diving Guide for Cruise Travelers at the link in bio or at divingescapades.com/free-guides — it walks you through the logistics step by step so you can plan it easily.

Stopping in Belize on a cruise? Here’s what you should know before stepping off the ship.

Belize is a tender port, which simply means your ship doesn’t « park » right next to land.

Instead, you stay anchored offshore and take a smaller boat (called a tender) to get to the port.

It’s easy — just a bit slower than walking straight off the ship.

And btw, the water near the port can look brown at first.

Totally normal. If you’re thinking, “Wait… is this really it?” — don’t worry 😅 You haven’t reached the reefs yet.

Once you leave the port and head offshore, that’s where the turquoise water, the Belize Barrier Reef, Shark Ray Alley, and stops like Caye Caulker come in — and that’s what makes a port day in Belize absolutely worth it.

I also created a 1-Day Belize Itinerary for Cruise Travelers to help you plan your port stop — grab it free at the link in bio.
