"WILDERNESS is a new project initiated by Olivier Cornil and Vincent Delbrouck, two Belgian photographers. Together,
they invited eight other photographers, a publisher and a bookseller (based in Belgium) to join them at nofound photo fair in Paris (November 2012), sharing a common passion for photography and artists' books. WILDERNESS intends to explore the wild side of photography, convinced that the ambiguous relationship we have with (human) nature can be understood differently in the light of an honest commitment to life and poetry. Photography should not be the illusion of man's domination over nature, a poor and preconceived grid on a “innocent” and pristine environment. When the landscape appears as an internal reality, art becomes a simple means to breathe, a deep concern for positive change. In such a state of mind, each one can exceed its simple individuality to participate in a universal structure, that exceeds the human being. WILDERNESS is a search for meaning, where each artist decides to enroll himself in a group project open to collaborations, mindfully, talking in pictures, books, paintings, writings or videos, with open chaos. WILDERNESS est un nouveau projet initié par Olivier Cornil et Vincent Delbrouck, deux photographes belges. Ensemble, ils ont invité huit autres photographes, un éditeur et un libraire (basés en Belgique), à se joindre à eux lors de la NoFound Photo Fair (Paris, nov. 2012), afin de partager leur énergie commune pour la photographie et le livre d’artiste. WILDERNESS entend explorer le côté sauvage de la photographie, convaincu que le rapport ambigu que nous entretenons avec la nature (humaine) peut être appréhendé autrement, à la lumière d’un engagement honnête envers la vie et la poésie. Le rêve humain de contrôler la nature et d’être le centre du monde a échoué. La photographie ne devrait pas être l’illusion de cette domination de l’homme sur la nature. Elle n’est en aucun cas cette grille préconçue plaquée sur un environnement vierge et innocent. Lorsque le paysage apparaît comme une réalité interne, l’art devient un simple moyen de respirer et d’activer une profonde préoccupation pour un changement positif. Dans un tel état d’esprit, chacun peut dépasser sa simple individualité afin de participer à une structure universelle, qui dépasse l’être humain. WILDERNESS est une recherche de sens, où chaque artiste décide de s’inscrire dans un projet collectif ouvert aux collaborations, en pleine conscience, pour converser en images, carnets, peintures, écrits ou vidéos, avec le chaos. Entre réalité et fiction, WILDERNESS est un flux, une intimité globale sans posture, dans la mondialisation.
