Writing this post feels surreal because completing this project took everything I had.
The final video on my series documenting Iraq has been uploaded, The captured in this series completely shifted my perspective on life and served as a powerful reminder of how remarkably fortunate I am.
Across this journey, I had the privilege of visiting places etched in modern history and ancient memory—from the vibrant streets of Baghdad, the destroyed markets of Mosul, and ports of Basra, to the sacred grounds of Lalish and Karbala, the ruins of Babylon, and even one of Saddam Hussein’s abandoned palaces.
But beyond the landmarks, it was the people who have had the greatest impact on me. I had the unique pleasure of sitting with those who survived some of history’s most horrific atrocities, I experienced the hospitality of men who were once forced to be child soldiers, and I drank tea with some of the warmest, most welcoming human beings on Earth.
I poured an incredible amount of heart, work, and care into making these videos. The complete Iraq documentary series is now live on YouTube.
