ဆိုင်ထဲကို ရောက်လိုက်တာနဲ့ Indie သီချင်းသံလေးတွေက ကြိုဆိုနေပြီး စိတ်ထဲမှာ တကယ့်ကို ပေါ့ပါးလွတ်လပ်တဲ့ ခံစားချက်ကို ရစေပါတယ်။ Vintage နဲ့ Hippy style အထည်လေးတွေ၊ Thrift ပစ္စည်းလေးတွေကို တစ်ဝကြီး ရွေးချယ်နိုင်သလို နေရာအနှံ့မှာလည်း အနုပညာလက်ရာတွေကို တွေ့ရမှာပါ။

ဆိုင်တစ်ဆိုင်လုံးကို Recycle ပစ္စည်းလေးတွေနဲ့ပဲ ဖန်တီးပြင်ဆင်ထားတာမို့ မြင်သမျှအရာတိုင်းက တကယ့်ကို ချစ်စရာကောင်းပါတယ်။ ဒါ့အပြင် Tattoo ဝါသနာပါတဲ့သူတွေအတွက်လည်း ဆိုင်မှာတင် တစ်ခါတည်း ထိုးလို့ရပါသေးတယ်။ နောက်ပြီး ဒီဆိုင်က ကျွန်တော် ရောက်ဖူးသမျှ ဆိုင်တွေထဲမှာ ဈေးနှုန်းလည်း တကယ်ကို ချိုသာပါတယ်။

ဆိုင်ရဲ့ vibe နဲ့ အပြင်အဆင်တွေက ကျွန်တော့်ရဲ့ Fujifilm X100VI နဲ့ တကယ်ကို လိုက်ဖက်လွန်းနေလို့ ရိုက်ထားတဲ့ ပုံလေးတွေကို ဝေမျှပေးလိုက်ပါတယ် ဗျာ။ 🎞️✨

Today, I finally tracked down a hidden gem in Maymyo called Shambala. It’s one of those rare finds that instantly became my favorite spot in town. The moment I walked in, the sound of indie music filled the room, making the whole place feel incredibly relaxed and alive.

It’s a space where art is everywhere you look. I spent my time browsing through unique vintage treasures and hippy-style thrift finds. What’s really cool is how they’ve decorated the entire shop using recycled materials—it gives everything this creative, "cute" character that you don't see often.

Beyond the fashion and the art, they even have a tattoo studio if you're looking for some new ink. Honestly, for a place this unique, I was surprised by the prices—it’s easily one of the most affordable shops I’ve visited in Maymyo.

The whole aesthetic was a perfect match for my Fujifilm X100VI. The colors and the textures of the shop just worked. Have a look at these shots and see what I mean.

ခေတ်မီ App တွေ၊ Digital ဖိုင်တွေ မရှိခင်ကတည်းက မြန်မာ့ရိုးရာ ဗေဒင်ပညာရပ်ကို အခြေခံပြီး တိတိကျကျ တွက်ချက်ခဲ့ကြတာပါ။ ပေရွက်ပေါ်မှာ အစင်းရာထင်အောင် ရေး၊ ပြီးရင် မီးသွေးနဲ့ ကညင်ဆီရောပြီး ပွတ်လိုက်တဲ့အခါ ထွက်လာတဲ့ အမည်းရောင် စာလုံးလေးတွေက နှစ်ပေါင်းရာချီတဲ့အထိ ခိုင်မာနေဆဲပဲ။

ဝက်ဝံ ဈေးကုန်းရွာမှာ တွေ့ခဲ့ရတဲ့ ဒီရှေးဟောင်းဇာတာတွေကို သေချာလေး မှတ်တမ်းတင်ဖြစ်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။ ဒါတွေဟာ ကျွန်တော်တို့ မြန်မာ့ရိုးရာ ယဉ်ကျေးမှုရဲ့ အနုပညာမြောက်တဲ့ အမွေအနှစ်တွေပါပဲ။

In an era long before digital files and instant apps, a person’s entire destiny was carefully inscribed onto a single piece of history.

These are Zatars—traditional Myanmar birth charts. I recently had the privilege of documenting these sacred documents at Wet Wun Zay Kone Village. Unlike modern horoscopes, these were meticulously calculated using ancient Burmese astrology (Baydin) and etched by hand onto dried palm leaves (Pe-sar) using a sharp metal stylus.

The process itself is an art form: after the calculations are scratched into the leaf, they are rubbed with a mixture of charcoal and earth oil. This traditional 'ink' fills the grooves, turning the invisible scratches into permanent black script that can survive for centuries.

Finding these preserved Zatars felt like stepping back in time. They aren't just charts; they are a bridge to the past, representing the faith, science, and identity of generations. I’m honored to share these captures of our enduring Myanmar heritage.

Cafe ဆိုပေမဲ့ Menu မှာ Sushi နဲ့ Sashimi တွေပါ စုံစုံလင်လင်ရတာတွေ့ရတော့ Japanese Restaurant တစ်ခု ရောက်သွားသလိုပါပဲ။ ဆိုင်ဝန်းကျင်တစ်ခုလုံးကလည်း အပင်ကြီးတွေနဲ့ အုပ်အုပ်ဆိုင်းဆိုင်းမို့ အရမ်းကို စိတ်ကျေနပ်စရာကောင်းပါတယ်။

မြို့ထဲအထိ ထွက်မစားချင်တဲ့အချိန်မှာ Hotel နားတင် အေးအေးဆေးဆေးနဲ့ အရသာရှိတဲ့ စားစရာဆိုင်လေး ရှိနေတာ တကယ့်ကို အဆင်ပြေသွားရတယ်။

During this trip to Maymyo, I stayed at a hotel near Thone Bo Village, which is a bit of a trek from the downtown area. Since it’s a little far to head into town for every meal, I did a quick search on Google Maps and discovered a spot called "My Dream Cafe" nearby.

To my surprise, it’s practically a Japanese restaurant in disguise! They serve a great variety of Sushi and Sashimi. The entire cafe is surrounded by lush, towering trees, creating a peaceful, forest-like atmosphere.

I’m so glad I found this spot—having such a quality place to eat right near the hotel made the stay so much more convenient and enjoyable.

The Atar Oh in Maymyo is filled with deep meaning and local greenery. From the traditional Thabyay and Gangaw to the unique addition of Cactus (Ta-saung-su) and Traditional Water Offering Bowl, each plant is chosen to bring good luck. With thirteen different sprigs like Tama, Zee, and Kyan, this pot stands as a symbol of protection and "coolness" for the coming year. Capturing this earthy and diverse tradition is what makes the Myanmar New Year so special.

Today (Thingyan Akya day), my princess’s sister took my girl and me up to Maymyo. We let Google Maps lead the way and stumbled upon a hidden gem: caffe Wheeler.

The vibe here is incredibly cozy—a dream for anyone who loves vintage aesthetics. The walls are lined with biker photos, and they have some stunning vintage motorcycles on display. Tucked away under a canopy of green trees, it felt like a different world. It was also the first time I actually met the Thingyan water this year! 💦

I already know I’ll be back here once the festival rush is over. ☕️

Just landed in Maymyo | ’ Maymyo

မေမြို့ရောက်ရောက်ချင်း cafe hopping လေး အရင်စလိုက်တယ်။ ဆိုင်လေးတွေရဲ့ အပြင်အဆင်က Fujifilm နဲ့ ရိုက်ဖို့ အဆင်သင့်ပဲ။ စိတ်အေးချမ်းရတဲ့ quality time လေးပေါ့။

Dropped my bags and headed straight out to explore the local café scene. There’s something about the cozy vibes here that pairs perfectly with my Fujifilm recipes.

မနေ့က စမ်းချောင်းလမ်းထဲမှာ ဆိုင်အသစ်လေးတစ်ဆိုင် တွေ့ခဲ့တယ်။ ကိုယ့်အိမ်နဲ့လည်း တော်တော်နီးပြီး ဆိုင်နာမည်လေးကလည်း ချစ်စရာကောင်းတယ်... "Grandma’s House" တဲ့။

Yesterday, I stumbled upon a new coffee shop right on Sanchaung Street, surprisingly close to my home. The name is just as cozy as the place: Grandma’s House. ☕️🏠

Walking in, it immediately gave me those Vietnam and Taiwan street-style cafe vibes. The interior is super chill—it’s not overcrowded with staff or trying too hard. You can just sit there, feel the "cozy vibe," and relax freely.
