2 am, all quite and dark...sitting on the back deck of the MY Sheena Safari boat having a beer with my dive buddy, Chris Henning, when suddenly... a whale shark appeared from the deep attracted to the plankton that were drawn to the boats light...we both entered quietly into the water with mask and fins and were so happy to finally meet this whale shark face to face...

Our first actual full moon Chanel dive between two reefs where the current was so strong one needs to connect to a hook line to stay in position otherwise...one is "blown away" with the current.
The sharks love it when there is a strong current and every once in a while they came to say hello :-) and then disappear back into the deep blue.
I would call this dive a "Sharktastic dive with a Full Moon Party current" !!!

This unique dive site is a Manta Ray Cleaning Station where the Mantas come to get their skin, gills and teeth cleaned by a variety of small cleaner fish and wait patiently sharing their majestic beauty with us...what a sight !!!

First encounter face to face with a Tiger Shark...pure adrenaline & breathtaking!!!
To witness such power and at the same time such grace !

The thing that really got to me while listening to a lecture about the Tiger sharks is that they are considered a near threatened species due to fishing and Shark finning by humans.
Shark finning is the cruel act of slicing off the sharks fins at sea, as the fins are the most profitable part of the shark and sold in restaurants as "Shark fin soup" (which on average cost $100 for one bowl of soup), then... the sharks are thrown back into the ocean... but without their fins the sharks cannot swim, so they sink to the bottom of the ocean where they are left to die from suffocation or eaten alive by other predators.
It is estimated that Shark finning causes the death of tens of millions of sharks worldwide each year !!!
Anyone with ideas to share on how to help & ban Shark finning or anyone who would like to help in general please message me...🙏
