I am so proud to announce a documentary we filmed is getting some amazing press coverage on Global News. It's a beautiful story about how an aged care home and a local music school in Kingston, Ontario formed a partnership to bring music and connection to the elderly.

Mexico on Film.

When I think back about my time in Mexico, I mostly think about 3 things. The beaches, the people, and the food. All equally vibrant and iconic.

Mexico on Film.

Usually when shooting portraits with a digital camera I might shoot dozens if not hundreds of frames to try achieve the best photo I can. By shooting film I challenged myself to slow down and have more intention with every precious frame.

For this portrait I only took one photo, then I just walked away. Crossing my fingers and praying I got what I wanted. About a month later when the images were processed I would find out whether it was a success or not.

Mexico on Film.

I’m finally going to start sharing pictures from my 3 and a half week trip I took down to Mexico in February, 2020. When I travel I like to simplify my gear. This trip I only took a film camera with 2 lenses, a 24mm and 50mm. The 24mm is perfect for wide angle landscapes and street scapes, where as the 50mm is used primarily for portraits like this one.

Before this trip I hadn’t shot on film in over 10 years. Not since my photography schooling days back in Australia where we learned on 35mm and medium format film cameras for the first 6 months of our 2 year course. It was exciting for me to relearn the process, to slow down, to take risks, to enjoy the true art form of photography.

During the pandemic 1000’s of sewists, volunteers and donations have come together to make and deliver PPE to front line workers across Canada. They call themselves the
Director .vine from and myself taking care of camera/audio/lighting filmed a documentary about this inspiring story. The film was edited by at the and many others donated their time to help with colour and sound to bring this project to life.
