This Friday, commemorating International Women’s Day, we opened the exhibition of my project 50 Women Over 50 at the Mexican Cultural Institute in Copenhagen.
It was such a special evening. Many of the women from the project were there and together with family and friends we celebrated the closing of a chapter that, without planning it, became very important in my life.
When I moved to Denmark and turned 50, I was going through a big personal shift. This project became my way to process that moment. Along the way I met 50 incredible women who shared their wisdom, their stories, their dreams and their honesty about life.
What they showed me is that there is nothing to fear about growing older. Priorities change, but we become wiser, more real, and more connected to ourselves.
I feel deeply grateful to the Embassy of Mexico in Denmark and Ambassador Norma Pensado for supporting this project and helping make this exhibition possible.
Thank you to every woman who trusted me and stepped in front of my camera. I know it can feel vulnerable and I honor that trust so much.
Thank you to my family, my friends, and especially my husband for supporting this idea from the very beginning.
And thank you to everyone who came on Friday. Your energy, excitement and love made the evening unforgettable.
If you couldn’t make it, the exhibition is still open and I hope you can visit soon. Contact me for details.
Today I celebrate all the women in this project and women everywhere. May you be safe, may you be recognised, may you be fulfilled. Happy International Women’s Day.
