Hey everyone,
This is my follow up on the RK G68 review that I posted up earlier :) Enjoy~
==================================
The RK brown switch is a tactile switch but it is pretty quiet and feels very comfortable to type for long hours, but being a budget switch, the RK brown is still a little scratchy during actuation and the key wobbles are quite prominent in my case, the tactile bump is subtle but definitely noticeable.
Iβve always heard good feedbacks about the Gateron Yellows and thanks to Hamaji's review video, I really learned a lot about switches in general. I have been using the RK G68 with its stock brown switch for about a couple of weeks now and I canβt seem to be able to shake the thoughts of getting the Gateron Yellows to try it out so I ended up ordering them online and they are finally here after a week of waiting time.
First impression on the Gateron Yellow is that they are not that much different than the RK brown that I have, they felt and sound similar, I was almost starting to feel regret for getting them but Iβve told myself to give it a try and use it for at least a couple of days.
After using the new Gateron Yellows for about a week, mainly just normal email typing and short sentences, I have to say they are really pretty good. I havenβt tried to game with it for now but for normal usage they are really great on the fingers. You will feel that every keypress seems a little smoother than the usual clicky/tactile keys where you will feel the bump while typing, the gateron yellows feels like typing on a membrane keyboard but with the travel of a full height switch.
I am still trying to get use to the linear style switch after switching over from using the tactile brown switch from RK, the linear/mushy feeling might be something you will take some time to get use to, I still get missed keys or typos when I am typing a little faster but the sound it makes is really ASMR worthy.
All in all, I am pretty satisfied with the RK G68 and for itβs price of RM 199, thereβs really not much other competitor for this keyboard, swapping the switches to Gateron Yellows just made them better, giving the use a slightly elevated user experience.
