HON. NEWMAN AZU FLAG-OFF THE GRADING OF UGWATTI, OBOKWE – UMUEKECHI ROAD AS THE DG ASOPADEC PROMISE TO PROVIDE A BORE-HOLE TO UGWATTI AND OBOKWE RESPECTIVELY.
The Mayor of Ukwa West LGA, Hon Newman Azu today 1st day of January 2024 flag-off the grading of the dilapidated Ugwatti, Obokwe and Umuekechi road. The road which have been a challenging one based on the fact that it is the only road that links all the communities in Asa group to Aba the commercial hub of the state.
Speaking during the flag-off event, the Mayor of Asa Land Hon. Newman Azu in a goodwill message of the new year tag “Message of the New Asa” said that it is his determination to make Ala Asa a better place than he met it. He noted that the grading of the road will cut across the 10 wards of Ala Asa.
He said “We have encountered both beautiful moments and challenges in the past year, and these experiences would not have been the same without the special people in our lives. A New Year is akin to a blank book, with the pen in our hands. It presents an opportunity to script a beautiful narrative for ourselves as a community.
He noted that It’s time to embark on this journey with renewed hopes and expectations while urging the citizens to shun acts capable of undermining the development of the country, collectively looking into the New Year 2024 with renewed optimism and vigour. Brighter days are ahead of us,” he said.
He also uses the opportunity to convey his gratitude to everyone who contributed to making last year eventful. He urge the community to support the governments of the Governor of Abia state His Excellency Alex Otti for a better life for us all, adding that this new year will be better than the previous years. Be hopeful, it is going to be a better phase of life,” he said.
Earlier in his speech before the Flag-off of the grading of the road by the Mayor, the GM of ASOPADEC Ven. Joshua Onyike said As we bid farewell to a challenging year 2023, let us embrace hope for a brighter 2024.
He said despite the trials of 2023, It Is important that we stand united, resilient, and hopeful for positive changes ahead. The GM noted that together, we can build a future Asa filled with opportunities and progress.
He promise to provide a bore-hole before the end of January, 2024 to Ugwatti Community and to replace the 4 JP water tank at Central School Obokwe community to marked the commencement of new Asa, a project he said will alleviates the scarcity of drinking water in the fore-mention communities. He urged Ndi Asa to use the new year to renew their commitment to the progress and development of Asa Land in particular and Abia State in General.
