When politics rises above bitterness, democracy breathes. When Akoko-Edo comes first, everybody wins.

Let the campaign be about Akoko-Edo

As the 2027 campaign season officially opens today, Hon. Otunba Oladele Bankole-Balogun (Oteniete) has drawn a bold line in the sand: no hate, no thuggery, no fake news, no ethnic baiting—let ideas compete, not brothers fight.

This is the kind of politics Akoko-Edo deserves: a contest of vision over venom, policies over propaganda, persuasion over coercion, and progress over personal ambition.

The questions before us are bigger than party colours: How do we create opportunities for our youth? Strengthen security? Improve healthcare? Build infrastructure? Grow the local economy?

We may disagree politically, but we must never become enemies socially. We are Akoko-Edo before we are anything else.

Let every candidate bring their manifesto. Let every voter examine the records. Let every debate sharpen our choices. And when the people decide, let every leader respect their verdict.

Peace is not weakness. Responsible competition is not surrender. And putting Akoko-Edo first is the real victory.

Oteniete has made his commitment clear: peace. Harmony. Progress. Prosperity.

Now, let the campaign begin—and let Akoko-Edo win.

What single issue should dominate the 2027 campaign agenda for Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency?

Share this message. Demand issue-based politics. Reject violence, hate and misinformation. Let us campaign fiercely—but peacefully—for a greater Akoko-Edo.

Akoko-Edo deserves more than promises—it deserves purposeful representation.

Leadership is measured by the ability to build bridges, attract opportunities, influence policy, and deliver tangible results. A representative with access to decision-makers and meaningful engagement with investors can help position Akoko-Edo for sustainable growth.

Otunba Oladele Bankole-Balogun represents a vision of connection, capacity, and commitment. His participation in high-level engagements such as the Edo SHINE 2026: Shining Beyond Borders forum reflects the importance of building relationships that can translate into investment, jobs, infrastructure, and development back home.

The future of Akoko-Edo should be driven by ideas, competence, and results—not by short-term gains. In 2027, let's rally behind leadership that can speak with influence, negotiate with confidence, and work tirelessly for the progress of every community in Akoko-Edo.

BANKOLE-BALOGUN OUTLINES A VISION FOR HARNESSING THE POTENTIAL OF AKOKO-EDO'S YOUTHS THROUGH EDUCATION, INNOVATION, AND ENTERPRISE

The APC Flagbearer for the House of Representatives, Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency, Hon. Barr. Otunba Oladele "Oteniête" Bankole-Balogun, Esq., has outlined his vision for unlocking the immense potential of the youths of Akoko-Edo through education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and strategic empowerment initiatives.

Speaking on the future of the constituency, Bankole-Balogun observed that young people remain the greatest asset of any society and should be equipped with the right opportunities to succeed. He explained that, if elected, he would advocate policies and programmes that promote skills development, digital innovation, entrepreneurship, and access to opportunities that prepare young people to compete in an evolving global economy.

"The future of Akoko-Edo depends on how well we prepare our young people today. My aspiration is to support initiatives that will nurture talent, encourage innovation, promote entrepreneurship, and equip our youths with the knowledge and skills required to become leaders, job creators, and agents of positive change within our constituency," he stated.

He further noted that empowering the youth requires sustained collaboration among government institutions, educational establishments, the private sector, and development partners. According to him, creating an environment where young people can learn, innovate, and thrive would strengthen local industries, stimulate economic growth, and position Akoko-Edo as a constituency of opportunity and excellence.

Bankole-Balogun's vision reflects the APC's commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda by investing in human capital development, promoting youth inclusion, and advancing purposeful representation that seeks to build a prosperous, innovative, and economically vibrant Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency.

Akoko-Edo HoR 2027: Beyond the Noise of Resignations and Defections

By Elempe Dele

The political storm is not gathering yet. It’s just a dull cloud, while the people of Akoko-Edo are already preparing for the 2027 general elections.

Before and after the May 16, 2026 House of Representatives primary across Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency — where Otunba Oladele Bankole-Balogun won overwhelmingly — the APC made moves to reconcile all contestants. The party appealed to them to work together as one unit ahead of 2027.

Dr. Adetutu Owolabi respected the party’s decision to field the more experienced politician, Bankole-Balogun. Mr. Paul Afagese, however, was inconsolable. He resigned from the APC and defected to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, to contest the same seat. It is worthy to note that ADC had allegedly conducted its primary and published the name of the winner; Mr. Nelson Ateri. The controversial acquisition raises more questions than answer about integrity and the rule of law. But I do not intend to dwell on it for the now.

Afagese was within his rights to leave the APC, after the party had exhausted all internal mechanisms to pacify aspirants. What makes recent political conversations “fun” is the loud propaganda around resignations and defections.

Some of these defections are being magnified, just as we saw in the peak days of the Obidient Movement in 2022/2023 before the general elections. We must concede that elections are about numbers. But we must also agree that not every number is significant enough to change outcomes.

Without mentioning names to protect friendships: in 2023 here in Akoko-Edo, we saw a much larger, more youthful followership for another party. Yet, Hon. Peter Akpatason still triumphed as expected.

So let’s not inflate these few defections to look like “swarms of drones from Ukraine entering deep into Russia.” Akoko-Edo is APC, and APC is Akoko-Edo. It will be a Sisyphean task to build any structure capable of contending with the APC’s deep-rooted machinery in Akoko-Edo. A handful of decampees cannot alter the status quo — unless the agenda is simply to cause unnecessary disruption.

Again, Otunba Oladele Bankole-Balogun is running under a broad consensus of competence, capacity, integrity, experience, and purpose. His support across the ten wards that make up the federal constituency is not built on ethnic irredentism.

What the opposition is doing is to becloud the people with a smoke-like veil of sentiment and tribal clamour, instead of focusing on capacity to deliver grassroots development through conversations on enabling bills, policies, and vision.

It’s all just political banter during this gestation period — propping up the ADC candidate with a few resignations and defections from APC. Electioneering is about the support of the majority, not the noise of the minority.

The people of Akoko-Edo remain indivisibly with the APC. The party is physically built on solid rock in all the ten wards. To defeat it would be like a camel passing through the eye of a needle.

But let’s have fun. It is politics. After the election, we will all come back, not with anger, but with the usual friendly hug that we, the Akoko-Edo people, are known for. And we’ll say: “You shouldn’t have left in the first place.”

PUBLIC STATEMENT ON THE SECURITY SITUATION IN IMOGA COMMUNITY

We unequivocally condemn the recurring attacks and killings in Imoga Community allegedly perpetrated by armed assailants. The loss of innocent lives has brought profound grief to families and created an atmosphere of fear that now threatens the stability of the entire Okpameri nation.

This crisis extends beyond Imoga. The disruption of farming activities, displacement of residents, and breakdown of communal trust are weakening economic life and social cohesion across Okpameri land. Our people can no longer access their farmlands safely, markets have been destabilized, and the generational heritage of our communities is under direct threat.

We acknowledge that both the Akoko-Edo Local Government Authority and the Edo State Government are treating this matter with the urgency it deserves. Ongoing engagements with security agencies reflect the seriousness with which this crisis is being addressed at all levels of government.

To further strengthen our response, _Otunba (Hon) Oladele Bankole-Balogun_ will, in the coming weeks and in collaboration with the State and Local Government, convene a comprehensive Security Summit in Akoko-Edo LGA. The summit will bring together community leaders, traditional rulers, youth representatives, and security stakeholders to develop concrete, actionable strategies to address the insecurity affecting Imoga and the wider Okpameri communities.

We call on all Okpameri sons and daughters, at home and in the diaspora, to remain vigilant, united, and supportive of lawful efforts to restore peace. The safety and security of our people are non-negotiable.

Signed
Otunba (Hon) Oladele Bankole-Balogun Campaign Council

O LORD, BLESS AKOKO-EDO WITH ANOTHER HON. TAJUDEEN BRIGHT ALADE!

While the embattled Executive Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, Hon. Tajudeen Bright Alade was proactive and ready to lose his sleep to confront the devastating insecurity challenge rocking Akoko-Edo, Hon. Alabi Bliss Oshionogue, the recently-impeached council boss was only working assiduously to enrich himself.

The difference between the duo was very clear. Let's go down memory lane by watching this short video.

WITH THE NEW COUNCIL BOSS, I SEE THE RISING OF A NEW AKOKO-EDO

There is no other higher sacrifice to make for one's land of nativity than to stand against any injustice and corruption.

Much thanks to the likes of Kola T. Sam Agidiomo and others who stood amidst all odds to liberate Akoko-Edo from the evil hands of Hon. Alabi Bliss Oshionogue and his gang.

With the coming of the down-to-earth and progressive-minded Hon. Ayodele Azamata Fatimbi, one who cherishes a good name far more than gold, as the new council boss, I see a sigh of relief and the rising of a New Akoko-Edo from the doldrums of developmental marginalisation.

However, for the new council boss to succeed, all of us must thrive to support him and his administration.

Congratulations to Akoko-Edo!!!
