What first drew me to Cynthia’s story was her resilience. When I found out she was from Bariga, one of the toughest neighborhoods in Nigeria, I knew I had to tell her story. Having experienced life firsthand in the same neighborhood, I know for a fact how tough things can be there. Not many people from such a background have the courage, the boldness to dream this big, let alone chase it with everything they have.

I followed her journey for several months, as she encountered great setbacks but would never give up. This has been one of the most powerful stories I have ever told, and I’m so glad that she allowed me to share her world with you.

More than boxing, this is a story of resilience, hope, and the determination to never give up, no matter what life throws at you. Cynthia’s story will continue to inspire Black women and underrepresented communities everywhere.

With great honor, I’m excited to have Beyond Olympic Glory officially selected for the iREP International Documentary Film Festival Nigeria’s only festival dedicated to documentaries. This is a huge one for me, for the entire team, and for Cynthia.

The struggle to BECOMING.
I am a dreamer, born under the African sun, a storyteller craving to capture life's every run. The struggle to becoming, it's a path not taken lightly, a journey through the thorns of doubt, through the drought of support. Yet, I keep walking, my heart keeps talking, my lens keeps capturing, my soul keeps nurturing.

Sometimes voices would whisper, "It's impossible, it's a far-fetched dream", but my heart beats louder, My spirit, unbroken, my resolve, unshaken, for I have a dream, it cannot be broken.

I walk in the footsteps of giants like Kagho Idhebor, those who dared to dream, those who dared to scream their stories through the lens, their struggles, their wins.

Yes, it's a struggle to becoming, a filmmaker in this African scene, but it’s a struggle I embrace, it's a journey I trace, for the African dream is a dream worth chasing, a story worth telling, a vision worth filming.

So, here I stand, camera in hand, heart ablaze, ready to gaze through the lens of struggle, to capture the essence of becoming, the filmmaker that I am destined to be. It's not just about me, it's about us, our story, our struggle and our victory. ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
