A Chapter Closes, but the Memories Remain

Fifteen years. Hundreds of families. Countless love stories.
This has been the heart of Melody Rae Photography.

I never set out to be a professional photographer—this craft found me, and through it, I have had the privilege of capturing the most beautiful, fleeting, and meaningful moments of people’s lives. From the first cries of a newborn to the laughter and tears of a wedding, from farewell sessions before international moves to the tender goodbyes of loved ones, I have been honored to witness and document it all.

Now, as I step into a new career, my photography business is shifting into a passion project. I will still offer limited family and portrait sessions for previous clients based on donation (with a €100 reservation fee), but my focus will be on this next chapter.

To all of you who trusted me with your memories—thank you. Your support, your referrals, and your kindness allowed me to build something truly special. I would love to hear from you! If my work meant something to you, if there’s a favorite image I took or a moment from our shoot that stands out, please share it in the comments.

World Autism Day 2022...it's strange to think, if weren't for autism I wouldn't be a professional photographer. Arranging a playdate and connecting with another Autism Parent today I realized our family kaleidoscope "on the spectrum" is really such a circus of ups and downs and basic daily craziness, I know I don't share enough of it. I think it may be important that I do, but so often I worry of coming across too negatively (which is easy to do) or too happy (and miss expressing the hard grit of loving and caring for someone who is autistic and the overall difficulty of their own personal experience), because believe me, there have been so many moments of happiness and joy.

So for all those out there on the spectrum, and to all those who love them through this beautiful Rollercoaster called life, Happy World Autism Day and Month! Thank you for being you and making this world a more magical, colorful, special place just by being YOU!

A few of the hundreds (thousands?) of personal moments I treasure with the boy who let me into his world and forever captured my heart.

I'm so grateful to have gotten to meet this little guy and his sweet family. They are proof that love doesnt count chromosomes. Definitely one of those families that knows how to "rock the rain!" Happy 3-21 to all those people who are truly extra and those that love them.

I'm not addicted to these drool worthy juicy margaritas, we just have a special relationship 🤪 Sending a special shout out and cheers to my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant (and the best in Amsterdam in my opinion). turns 26 today and Friday I turn 36! Who knew we were both Leo's? Which margarita flavor is your favorite?

I'm not crying, you are! Saying goodbye to this sweet family with a super fun session and wishing them all the best on their new Adventure! It’s not what we have in our life, where we are, but who we have in our life that matters. ❤️

She's back! Yes, it's been awfully quite here. I'm alive and getting back to shooting after recovering from our whole family contracting Covid. Taking it slowly as it was pretty hard on my system and I am still having some lingering symptoms but I want to thank all my amazing clients for their well wishes, support, and patience during this time. I literally have the best clients and am so excited to get back to work!

Just before I left my littles wanted to hop out of the car and check out the tulips... They quickly changed their minds when they felt the wind! Good thing it was a wrap as the wind picked up. I love when I get lucky with the weather.

Wow friends! I am really feeling the love after my first round of mini sessions sold out in less than 24 hours!

I've already started a wait list in case there are any last minute openings or cancelations (i.e. Due to Corona) but can't wait to be back wading through a yellow sea of these beauties with couples & Families in less than 2 weeks.

It's officially Tulip season! I am so excited to be shooting in a new field this year that will feature gorgeous yellow tulips (courtesy of the same family farm I've worked with now for 7 years)
