As much as your choices and path may not make sense to others, it literally doesn't matter as long as it makes sense to you.
During the selection interview for my upcoming master program, the program director bluntly told me “Your study path is a bit strange and the courses you chose seem random. Can you explain?”
I remember thinking “Wow ok, that's judgy”. But also not being worried, because I knew - and know - very well why I chose them and what purpose they serve. So I had no issue explaining her why it did make sense. To me.
That's the thing I think. As longs as you've taken the time to shape your vision on your future, you won't be easily thrown off by what others may say.
I used to not be that way. And it costs time. So I thought about what I did want. Daily. For a year long. And took another (gap) year, to test the waters.
A year may feel like a lot, but if it means you can sail your boat with a GPS, instead of random sailing across the ocean and bouncin' around, it'll be well worth the time.
You may still change course, but at least it's a journey with focus and intention.
So make it intentional. No one has got it together as much as it seems. So when you're going through those messy-ass times in your life, at least you'll know why you're pushing through it. Not feeling sorry for yourself, because your road is intentional. And you know what’s awaiting, just not when.
My summer is a mess. But I chose this mess. And that makes it all alright. No smooth sailing. But we’re sailing with all eyes on the prize🦭
