Graduation Short Film ''Hava Hatun''

Hi dear reader, my name is Kursat Akyuz. An independent filmmaker from Rotterdam. Graduating student in Audiovisual Design at the Willem de Kooning Academy. This will be my first fiction film that needs a big production to release this project. I started my own company called 'Seleucia Creative' with the aim of new representation in the media. SUBJECT: Reflecting on poor family households in Türkiye which have to get through day by day to survive. My granddad’s father passed away at a very young age. His mother was taking care of the children on her own with little to no money in the village. Being an independent woman is never been praised for, or even looked upon when it comes to helping. I reflect on women’s rights which still is undervalued in Turkish culture. I also chose to highlight subjects like neglect, disownment, miscarriage, depression, and survival. Surrounded by symbols this story gives new meaning to carpet symbols which many don’t know the meaning of on the thing they step on every day.
GENRE: Sci-fi, Drama, Adventure, Romance
DURATION: 20 minutes +/-
BUDGETING: The production money will mainly go to local actors and crew members to help them financially during the economic recession in Türkiye. Cameras, sound, lighting and much more equipment. Renting of locations. Promotions. Any budget left from the film fund will be donated to areas of Türkiye and Syria which were impacted by the earthquake.
