Baltrum is één van de kleinste Duitse Waddeneilanden. Vorige week vlogen we er nog langs en maakten een overzicht met mooi weer. Rechts bij de haven het kleine vliegveldje met een verharde baan van slechts 360 meter. Ik ben er twee keer geweest, beide keren met gunstige wind. Gistermorgen stond de wind ook gunstig op het baantje, maar werd het duidelijk dat het getij ook een factor is om rekening mee te houden. Door het extreme hoge water na de storm stond de baan helemaal onder water, zoals op de andere foto's te zien is.

Baltrum is one of the smallest German Wadden Islands. We flew past it just last week and captured an aerial view in beautiful weather. To the right, near the harbor, lies a small airfield with a paved runway measuring only 360 meters. I have visited twice, both times with favorable wind conditions. Yesterday morning, the wind was once again favorable for the runway, but it became clear that the tide is also a factor that must be taken into account. Due to the extremely high water levels following the storm, the runway was completely submerged, as can be seen in the other photos.

Gisteren vlogen we uren boven de Noordzee om schepen te fotograferen tijdens storm Boelo. Vandaag hadden we een zeer hoge waterstand door deze storm. Op Texel liep de Slufter vol en kwamen de kades in Oudeschild onder water te staan.
Tijd om uit te vliegen voor een grote uitgever om in het Duitse Waddengebied ondergelopen eilanden te fotograferen met de boerderijen op terpen, de Halligen. Prachtig om te zien!

Yesterday, we spent hours flying over the North Sea, photographing ships during Storm Boelo. Today, the storm resulted in exceptionally high water levels. On Texel, the Slufter area flooded, and the quays in Oudeschild ended up underwater.
It was time to take flight again—this time for a major publisher—to photograph the German Wadden Sea’s 'Halligen': islands that become submerged, where farmsteads sit atop artificial dwelling mounds. A truly magnificent sight! www.flyingfocus.nl

Het laatste schip dat we vanmiddag fotografeerden was de FWN Star van ForestWave, die de hele dag in de zuidwestbaan van de scheepvaartroute boven de Waddeneilanden voer en vele golven heeft zien passeren.

The last ship we photographed this afternoon was the FWN Star, operated by ForestWave; it spent the entire day in the southwest-bound lane of the shipping route north of the Wadden Islands, where it encountered many passing waves.

Vanmiddag vier uur boven de golven gevlogen, van een windmolenproject in het zuidwesten tot een reddingboot bij Borkum. Boven de Wadden kwam het vanmiddag tot een westerstorm, Beaufort 9. Onze tweemotorige Cessna
Skymaster heeft weer bewezen zeer geschikt te zijn voor deze extreme weersomstandigheden!
Ten noorden van het Duitse eiland Juist zagen we de coaster Eken met een grondsnelheid van slecht 3,5 knopen in de scheepvaartroute. [email protected]

This afternoon, we spent four hours flying over the waves—from a wind farm project in the southwest to a lifeboat near the island of Borkum. North of the Dutch isles, conditions escalated into a westerly gale, reaching Force 9 on the Beaufort scale. Our twin-engine Cessna Skymaster once again proved to be exceptionally well-suited for such extreme weather!
North of the German island of Juist, we spotted the coaster Eken in the shipping lane, moving at a ground speed of just 3.5 knots. [email protected]

De Multratug 36 van Multraship lag afgelopen weekend als tijdelijke Kustwachtsleper ten noorden van Terschelling. De luchtfoto's zijn gemaakt met noordwest Beaufort 7 en een golfhoogte van rond de drie meter.
Last weekend, Multraship’s Multratug 36 was stationed north of Terschelling, serving as a temporary Coast Guard tug. The aerial photographs were taken during north-westerly winds at Beaufort force 7, with wave heights of around three meters. www.flyingfocus.nl

Afgelopen nacht vond de rig move plaats van de Triton 10 van de L9-A naar het kleine productieplatform L13-FI-1, achter de slepers Sea Evertsen, Multratug 18 en Fairplay 27.

Terwijl grote delen van Nederland vanmiddag last hadden van een wolkendek was het rond Texel prachtig helder en onbewolkt.
Tijdens onze fotovlucht konden we en route deze foto maken van het Balgzand tussen Den Helder en Den Oever. Op de voorgrond de haven van Den Helder, rechts in de verte het Amstelmeer, meer naar links Den Oever en de Afsluitdijk.
While large parts of the Netherlands were under cloud cover this afternoon, the skies around Texel were beautifully clear and cloudless.
During our photo flight, we were able to capture this image of the Balgzand area—located between Den Helder and Den Oever—while en route. In the foreground lies the port of Den Helder; in the distance to the right is the Amstelmeer, while further to the left are Den Oever and the Afsluitdijk.
