“To me, photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place…. I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”

Let's hear him on his own words :

It all began in 2012, when I decided to buy a compact camera for family events but my younger brother suggested me to go for a DSLR. At first, I was reluctant because I did not know anything about gears and found it bulky, but later followed his suggestion and went for the Nikon D3200. The first year was just the Auto mode, with not much success. Gradually I started reading about camera controls, turning the dials, experimenting and reading/watching tutorials. It wasn't until I reached for some manual controls and learnt the basics of post processing, that I started getting decent results. I started to shoot more of rural people and lifestyle and my works started getting attention. I have made many great friends from my photography journey. It is their support, encouragement and inspiring works, that has made me think of photography seriously.

About Street Photography : For me street photography is the most creative and satisfying genre. People often think that it is the easiest and does not require much technical knowledge or gears, but I think it is a very challenging style because the street is full of varying lifestyles and stories which changes at the blink of eye. As in other style of photography, you have an idea as what you are going to capture. But in street, it is very unpredictable and you can easily miss the shot of your lifetime within seconds. The difference between a winning shot and a random one can be just fraction of second or slight change in angle. Also there may also be issues with people and their consent about being photographed. The street photographer has to consider the moral issues while pressing the shutter. Luckily, most people in Nepal are not so rude about it, but are shy or conscious, which can make it more challenging to get a candid shot.

Nepal is a great country for street photography and I love the streets Kathmandu valley most followed by Nepalganj. Some notable inspiration are Ashish Koilara (The film shoot of terai series are epic), Prakash Budha (Inspiring lifestyle shooter) , Binod Rai (From Dubai streets to Ktm, does the best), Keshav Kandel (Pattern, Minimalism, Paradox and Pure street). I enjoy all kind of works on street photography from seasoned shooter across the world to Nepali youngsters. SPNC has provided a great platform for shooters, lovers and learners of street photography.

Let's hear him on his own words :

I got into photography seriously in mid 2012 with Canon 550D . For me photography is medium of expression. I want to showcase what I see and through my eyes. My main interest is travel photography. I am fond of people landscape and culture. Every street I pass by, every jungle I venture into or every culture I come across I find lots of interesting faces, places and stories. I am not doing photography professionally so that makes it even more interesting to capture the moments. It’s like a meditation for me. I get immense joy with every click of the shutter. Photography is my relaxation.

I am heavily influenced by the works of Steve Mccurry,Renan Ozturk, Jimmy Chin, Chris Burkard, Lee Jefferies & our very own Ashish Koirala dai. I think the more you shoot the more you learn. During the beginning days of Photography many people seem naïve and arrogant but time slowly teaches each of us a lesson and we better ourselves. I really want to do some long term projects and some coherent body of works and I am currently involved in one long term project about Transgenders of Nepal. As I completely work in another field from photography it’s quite difficult to manage time but passion is always strong and I always have a camera in my bag.

Apart from photography filmmaking is one of my dream goal and I was enrolled in film school too but I had to quit after a year because of some unavoidable circumstances. But I am planning to be back in film school in near future. My current goal is to work on some coherent body of work and get back to film school To all the shooters out there I say keep the flame burning and keep shooting DREAM DWELL DISCOVER.
