In this fast changing world where climate action is the absolute need of the hour, we bring to you narratives filled with ideas for change and hope for the future!

Sattya Media Arts Collective in association with Kar.ma Coffee will showcase stories from the project 'Himalayas to Sea, Plastic Free' a National Geographic Explorer project, that focuses on documenting the innovative approaches used by entrepreneurs and initiatives in the Himalayas to reduce the existing plastic waste challenge in the region.

For anyone interested in watching films about the mighty beauty of the Himalayas and the plastic waste crisis, join us on 31st May from 6pm at for a selected screening of Himalayas to Sea, Plastic Free.

The screening itself runs for an hour and the latter part of the event will include an open conversation and Q&A with the project team including filmmaker Devanshi Asher (in-person) and project leader Katie Conlon (via Zoom link).

"Glimpses from a very special public screening in Lukla of the documentary 'Pasang: In the Shadow of Everest'. The documentary is based on the life story of Pasang Lhamu Sherpa, a woman and a mother of three chasing after her dream of conquering Everest. Her story is of perseverance and of breaking down norms and standing up for herself against societal pressure and being the first Nepali women to climb Mt. Everest in 1993.

We will be supporting the for screening of the documentary across Nepal as a part of 'Bato ko Cinema'. Do check out this space for more updates, including a few fundraising shows in Kathmandu.

We had the very first free public screening in Lukla, Solukhumbu yesterday and it was a surreal experience to watch the movie in the very location where Pasang's adventures began. The good turnout of the locals inspite of the rain and storm made this screening even more special."

As the sun set on the terrace of Sattya, our tea talks on Camping with Nature came to an end. Over cups of steaming tea, the conversations centered around the growing popularity of camping as a novel activity in Nepal, and the desire of many women to leave city life for the peace of nature. Participants shared their experiences camping as women and bonding in nature. The session also included a lesson on setting up a tent, where the attendees were given to set up a tent without any instructions. This gave them a small glimpse of camping experience and the confidence to embark on their own camping adventures. It was a memorable experience that highlighted the power of nature and the importance of community among women.

Our weekend was amazingly spent re-learning taking photos the analog way, capturing Patan scenes, developing film negatives and sharing stories behind the photos with new found friends.
