Baya Weaver (Toop Chara)
Every year, Baya Weavers come from different parts of the valley to build their beautiful hanging nests, breed, and raise their families. These small birds are remarkable architects, weaving intricate nests from grass and plant fibers with great skill and patience.
Unfortunately, much of their natural habitat has been destroyed due to rapid urbanization, construction activities, and human encroachment. In some areas, people still disturb or even kill these birds for entertainment, which is both cruel and harmful to their survival.
These tiny creatures play an important role in maintaining ecological balance and deserve a safe place to live and thrive. It is our responsibility to protect their habitats, discourage harmful activities, and promote awareness about their conservation. By safeguarding these birds today, we ensure that future generations can continue to witness the beauty and wonder of the Baya Weaver in our valleys.

After a long wait, countless weekends, and many hours spent in the field, I finally managed to spot the beautiful Red-headed Trogon at Godawari. It felt like a true reward for patience, effort, and persistence.
There is a belief that when you put honest effort and intent into something, nature and the universe somehow respond in return. This moment felt exactly like that.
The Red-headed Trogon is one of the most striking forest birds found in Nepal. It has a vivid red head, deep green body, and long tail, making it one of the most visually stunning birds in the region. Despite its beauty, it is extremely shy and usually stays hidden in dense, shaded forests, which makes sightings rare.
It is typically seen alone or in pairs, sitting quietly on branches for long periods. It is also considered an indicator of healthy, undisturbed forest ecosystems. Currently, during its breeding season, the bird becomes slightly more active, which gave us the rare opportunity to observe and photograph it at Godawari.
Seeing this species in its natural habitat is a memorable experience for any wildlife photographer and nature enthusiast in Nepal.

Bar-headed Goose is a winter visitor and a passage migrant found generally in elevation ranging from 75 m to 275m above sea level. Known as the world’s highest-flying birds, these goose travel from Central Asia to South Asia during winters flying across the Himalayan range. Today we witness bar headed goose at Manohara, Bode, kathmandu valley. They may have landed due to bad weather and its time for them to return to their home land.
