A tiny male Tomtit| Miromiro was the star of the show out at Riverhead over the weekend. This little guy appears to have some particulates on its beak these birds nest in shallow cavities so he might have been helping its mate excavate a nest site ~ with Geoff and Noel

Busy little Tomtits | Miromiro in the forest.
Photo 1: is of a female: These little ones are rare to find in the north island of New Zealand. Often they let out a sharp high pitch squeek sound before making themselves known.
Photo 2: is of the more common male Tomtit|Miromiro. They come check you and the surroundings out.

This is the face of a "Worried Warbler|Riroriro"
Why?
Because for the last two years I have photographed a Shining Cuckoo|Pīpīwharauroa at Western Springs in the first week of September. The Grey warbler raise the young of the Shining Cuckoo. As the Shining Cuckoo lay their eggs in the Grey Warbler | Riroriro's nests, then go and socialise leaving the Grey Warblers to do the hard yards. This little one looks frazzled already after raising its own young this year. Now for a bigger round two I suppose...
