Blurry vision.

An evening playing with ICM. It’s not easy for me, and even harder to get an image that actually tells a story at the same time.

Which one do you like best?

1. People coming and going.
2. My compositions at the start were pretty much just long exposure shots getting blurry motion.
3. More blurry motion but I think the composition is more pleasing.
4. Can you see the shoe?
5. Getting away from the rain.
6. By this stage my technique was becoming more impressionistic. The group of friends with balloons intrigued me.
7. The evening flashing by.

The new station.

A decent turnout to the open day of Mangawhau Train Station yesterday. It’s been a long time coming and it’s quite exciting that the City Rail Link is close to being operational! Big shout out to everyone involved in the project.

A little hut in the mountains.

One of my favourite huts in New Zealand is the bright red Mueller Hut, nestled amongst the snow and mountains during winter.

A highlight on the ascent is Sealy Tarns, sadly with poor visibility when we were there. It was here that Fay.S was “reflecting” on life 😂

A tower of rainbows.

So many mishaps to get here 😂 I did a bit of research and thought this spot would be promising for blue hour photography. After spending a long time at immigration (did you know NZ passports don’t need a visa to enter China? Guess who didn’t, and had to queue twice lol) I found that my eSIM wasn’t working and had no internet. I thought that’s okay, I was only going to be here for a few hours let’s pretend it’s 2008 and go without internet.

Turns out you need internet for a lot of things in China. Even to buy a metro ticket. So after taking longer to do basic things like pay for dinner, and buy a metro ticket, I walked through a literal construction site to get to this canal.

By this point I missed the best light. Then my camera lens fogged up because of 100% humidity of Guangzhou summer.

I found a gap on a pedestrian bridge in between some uncles who were smoking and enjoying the pleasant evening, then took a few shots.

Still, a pretty fun experience before heading back to the airport for the flight home. Guangzhou, I will be back soon to hopefully spend more time taking photos and eating yummy Cantonese food.

On top of the world.

Bundaran HI is an iconic landmark in Central Jakarta, with a welcome statue in the middle. I’m always fascinated by the car trails and wanted to capture it in photograph, showing the frenetic pace of life in Jakarta.

I’d like to come back and try this again perhaps in golden hour one day.
