👁️ The Helix Nebula (NGC 7293 / Caldwell 63)

Captured from my backyard in Auckland with a Seestar S50.

Often called the "Eye of God", the Helix Nebula is one of the closest planetary nebulae to Earth at around 650 light-years away. What we're seeing is the glowing outer layers of a dying Sun-like star, expanding into space over thousands of years.

I was amazed at how much detail could be captured from suburban skies, with the blue-green oxygen core and red hydrogen shell clearly visible after a 50-minute integration.
