Livestock Improvement Corporation (LIC) are now recruiting Seasonal Herd Test Assists and Herd Test Field Technicians which is due to start in mid-August for the 2021-2022 Season.
DETAILS ARE: Application deadline 30/7/21 although we could appoint earlier if the right candidate comes forward earlier.
WHO DO WE NEED? Dairy industry experience is an advantage but not essential as full training is given. You need to be personable, strong communication & listening skills, excellent written and spoken English, self-motivated, professional manner, with excellent time management skills, an eye for detail, eligible for work in NZ, reasonably fit as walking, carrying, standing & lifting is required.
HERD TEST FIELD TECHNICIAN: Drive a small LIC Truck (Full car Driver License essential). You will deliver, set up and pickup herd testing equipment at local dairy farms in your allocated area. Also deliver milk samples to the depot and re-load for the next day. You need to be organized and have excellent time management skills. Always follow our biosecurity regulations and safe driver policy.
HERD TEST ASSIST: Full car Driver License essential. You will work alongside the customers during their milking’s and either collect the milk samples or operate an electronic recording device. This role requires early starts and split shifts. Also some nights away if applicable. Use your own vehicle and we pay you a per KM rate. You need to have an easy going and calm nature to work with many different people and management styles. Be supportive to the customer and respectful of their working environment. Have some knowledge of animal behaviour and be health and safety conscious.
