A little update from me! 🫶🏼

As some of you may know, I’ve recently made the big move from Dunedin to Clyde, Central Otago 🏡🍂 and I’m currently settling into my new home, getting familiar with my new surroundings, AND starting a new job.

Because of this, my photo turnaround times may be a little longer than initially stated over the next little while. I’m doing my very best to get everyone’s galleries edited and delivered as soon as I can, while also allowing myself some time to settle into this exciting new chapter. 🤎

Smoke, speed, and rotary screams… what more could you ask for? 🏁🔥

I don’t get the opportunity to photograph cars very often, but when I do, I go all in—and this weekend was no exception!

These shots were taken by yours truly at the 2022 4 & Rotary event in Timaru, and what an event it was. From immaculate builds to tyre-shredding action, there was never a dull moment.

The vibes were high, the cars were loud, and the camera was working overtime. Safe to say this weekend was an absolute blast—10/10, would do it all again! 🚗💨

I’m always so busy editing photos for my clients that sometimes I forget my own!

These photos are from my birthday in 2024. Some years my birthday falls on Mother’s Day, and 2024 happened to be one of those years. Mum and I decided to spend the day together wandering through the beautiful halls and gardens of Larnach Castle, right here in Dunedin.

We’re both lovers of all things historic and vintage, so it was the perfect way to celebrate together. It was such a special day, filled with beautiful scenery, plenty of laughs, and memories I’ll always treasure.

Get to know the face behind the camera! 📸✨

Kia ora! I’m Jourdyn, the face behind Jourdyn Takes Photos! 🤍

My photography journey began in 2019 when I was 17. Before heading off on my big trip to America and the Caribbean, I knew my phone camera wasn’t going to do those memories justice. I was torn between buying a camera or a GoPro, but thankfully I chose the camera—and little did I know it would end up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Not long after, in August 2020, I landed my very first paid photoshoot. It’s a session I’ll never forget, and I’ll always be grateful to the client who believed in me and gave me that first opportunity. From there, Jourdyn Takes Photos was born! (I know… very original name. 🤣)

Since then, I’ve said yes to every opportunity I could, spending countless hours learning, practicing, and growing both my skills and my business. Looking back at where I started compared to where I am now makes me incredibly proud—not just of the business I’ve built, but of the person I’ve become along the way.

To every single person who has booked a session, liked a post, shared my work, recommended me, or simply supported me in any way—thank you. I genuinely wouldn’t be where I am today without you, and I’m so grateful for every bit of support you’ve shown me over the years. 🤍

Outside of photography, I’m a Support Worker and hope to become a Neonatal Nurse one day. When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll usually find me playing video games, watching movies or true crime documentaries, spending time in nature, looking after my ever-growing collection of indoor plants, planning my next travel adventure, or getting stuck into a craft project. (And yes… I absolutely love a good nap. 😂)

If I had to describe myself, I’d say I’m outgoing, bubbly, compassionate, creative, honest… and just a little bit extra. ✨ I also have a cat with enough personality for the whole household, an amazing partner, and the most incredible friends and family who constantly cheer me on.

So, that’s a little bit about me! Thank you for being here, and I can’t wait to keep capturing your memories for many more years to come. 📸🤍
