That relaxed walk-and-talk is never one take. 🎙️

The whole lot went in one breath — beach, hills, grazing, wetlands. Nobody talks like that.

So we broke it into pieces, drone over the top, voiceover to stitch it. Meant to sound effortless. Wasn't.

We got "land like this doesn't come up often in Ahipara" — then the rest of the line vanished. Twice.

Agents aren't actors. My job is to keep rolling until the good one turns up, then quietly bin the other eight.

Empty land is the hardest thing I film. 🌾

No kitchen, no sunset through a window. Just grass and whatever you can find in it.

So we stood there and planned every angle first — hills one way, Ahipara beach the other, rolling green, then back toward Kaitaia. Four looks off one paddock.

I've bled on this listing. 🏍️

This block used to be the Sandhills motocross track. Came off that jump in 2008 on my RMZ450 and broke my ankle. Drove home in a manual — first to third, skipping second, because I couldn't work the clutch.

Eighteen years later I'm back filming it as a section.

That's where we both lost it.

Unscripted always beats scripted though. The second someone reads off a page you can hear it — so I keep the takes with the stumbles and the laughing. That's the bit that sounds like a real person.
